Hampton Roses Wallpaper in the Guest Bath
The guest bathroom is finally complete and got an entire makeover from a blank white slate to a dark floral wallpaper. The space is still incredibly bright with the large window, and we finally installed the glass shower door!
Here we go again and I am so excited to show you this bathroom that is off the garden room (expansion room). I want to call it a guest powder room but there’s a shower – because we do have overnight guests and thank goodness Michelle told me I should add a shower even though I was so reluctant! This bathroom has been a basic white clean bathroom for over two years. It was left that way on purpose because I wanted a clean bright bathroom to shoot my blog campaigns.
To be honest, blogging campaigns stopped in 2019 as social media has been on the rise and I now get paid through IG posts. Which is still the same in regards to shooting content just less photos and words. So shooting at home and having a space for a background that’s clean for brands was a priority then. Today, my style has only been more and more solidified over the years and has only intensified. Now, expressing myself is more of a priority and I figure the rest, work, whatever will follow if it’s meant to be.
With that said, that’s why we now have a glass shower door installed!
Who knew I’d make such a big deal over this! But it’s been in my at home photo studio for two years! The day before it was to be installed I said drop it off, but don’t install it. I think I paid about $750 or $800 for this and it was supposed to include install. Well, my bad. Then two years later the company has been sold to a new owner but thank goodness A Touch of Glass agreed to install it, but I did have to pay (and I was expecting t0). So for $295 install, it’s up now. And I’m happy. It’s fine, I made enough money back over the two years to not have it installed and when guests came I used a curtain rod and a temporary white shower curtain. But boy is it wonderful to have this glass!
I had to go to Target to find some bottles that matched the color in the bathroom of course. I am a big fan of Apotheke for the past few years ever since I discovered them from my Popsugar Outlander box video campaign I did. The charcoal liquid soap is perfect for the shower AND by the sink, but for the sink I wanted the Rose Oud scent of course.
^^ If it’s not evening when I usually light a candle in the bathroom, I like that there’s this Paperwhite scent by Pottery Barn. It’s one of my favorites for the laundry room and the bathroom. Isn’t the bowl cute? I thrifted it!
Wallpaper is Cole and Son, in Hampton Roses. I ordered from WallpaperDirect.com and it was about $200 a roll. To be honest I only needed two rolls but because I was so anxious to get it done in one night, with a HALF FUNCTIONING BRAIN, I ruined an entire roll. So the project cost me another $200 due to careless mistakes because I was half asleep. And it delayed the project by two weeks to be completed. It’s fine, because by the time I was done it just took a few days for the shower glass install to happen so it worked out.
^^ I love this planted pot for my orchid, it’s from Alice Lane Home (Use Alice Lane Home Promo Discount code DIANAELIZABETH for 10% off). I get the medium sized (or is it large) orchids from Trader Joe’s. I throw them away when the orchid dies. Now if you’re appalled by this, please calm down, I am not keeping a plant to look like a corpse for an entire year when you can grow an orchid from a seed. This isn’t a forest tree we’re talking about. Orchids are not being extinct and I treat them the same as a cut flower.
Right below the hand towel are disposable hand towels I bought from Willows. I kept the towel ring for the guests who stay for a while and they can put their hand towel on the ring. Otherwise, it’s a decorative one I found at a thrift store.
I guess you can still step into the shower and take my photo haha – see I did it (below).
BEFORE
White and bright was fine, it just looked like I moved in. But you know, I am glad I took the time to do what felt comfortable to me. No need to rush into any quick design when you aren’t sure yet. I truly believe style is taking the time to curate and figure out what you like! What I am thrilled about is that I didn’t have to do a big overhaul.
I just had to add wallpaper and change the light switch plates and add the glass door that I had already bought!
I am so excited for my friends to come over and see it and use the space now. I am going to put the light by the mirror on a dimmer switch (it’s on a separate switch) and that will complete it. I love dim lights during evening time and dark moody spaces.
