Blue & White Dining Room
After months, or even years trying to decide what to do with the dining room that is in the middle of our home after the garden room expansion, I painted it from gray to white.
The wall color is Alabaster by Sherwin-Williams which is the majority of our home (the garden room is Origami White which is a more cool white but the south facing balances the coolness so our home looks the same color).
I decided to hang some vintage blue and white plates, but primarily white with blue. They are Royal Copenhagen and another set is from Germany I found at an antique store. The middle large blue and white floral plates are actually from Zara Home. I’ve thought about buying these plates for use since they are microwave and dishwasher friendly, but I’m also looking for vintage China at a good price.
I added theses faux rose pots to the wall brackets from Ballard Designs – the faux rose pots are also Ballard. I think it’s changed this look to become more English. The wall brackets now come in wood, cream and blue. I really like the blue so don’t be surprised if you seem them swap colors…there’s an idea! :) I just need more storage space so I can swap my home decor inventory around!
If you’re wondering how to hang plates on the wall, I use these plate hangers from Amazon in various sizes. If you are out of a size, I swapped the spring and made it work!
The tablecloth is from Zara, the cute side plates are from Pottery Barn and come in a set of 4 various birds. I didn’t put out the turkey, sorry turkey just not my kinda bird. It comes in a salad plate and dinner plate. I like setting the salad or bread plates off to the side now, it fills up the entire table.
I’ve seen people place the napkins on the salad or bread plate on the side, and I like that look a lot!
What do you think? At first it took me a while to like the white because I do love me a moody sexy dining room but I think it looks good. Once I added the plates it really changed the look and it made me feel like it was the right choice. Thanks to the ladies at the Ballard Designs podcast How to Decorate for answering my design dilemma and also Ashley Whittaker for her advice! I couldn’t be happier.
I love those wood chairs by our dining room too – they are perfect! I can’t believe we scored them for such a deal!
Diana Elizabeth can’t wait to entertain and get Christmas up – but recently messed up her back for a week like REAL bad so things have been a little slow though. This week is her big birthday party!
