Upcoming Home Decor Changes

decorate front porch fall curb appeal

T
his is my neighbor’s cute home I decorated the porch for an IG campaign a few weeks ago. I have one fall wreath  and its up on our side gate and that’s about all the fall decor I have. I just hop into Christmas by mid-November! I would eventually like to decorate for fall one of these days now that our house looks more complete aka, the way I like it, but it will take time. And then all that stuff will require storage space which I’m still trying to free up in in the photo studio.

Right now, a big project we’re working on, or rather I am working on, is the living room face lift. Benjamin is dreading this but we all know I need something to do, and this space hasn’t really been touched or changed since we moved in 9 years ago. Well, I moved in first because I had bought the house while we were dating.

Here’s what the living room view looks like, which is where one would walk in from the front door. Yah it’s cute and cozy and never bugged me but now it’s time for a little facelift.

The only thing that has changed over the years was I learned how to style the fireplace mantel and I swapped the coffee table once or twice. Oh, and new pillow covers.

But now it’s time to  fix up the TV area. You see, the wood console table while I have enjoyed for nearly 15+ years, has had its time. Same with the Ballard Designs etagere (still for sale here) that sits in the corner that has been with me for the same time – they used to be in my townhome. Both will be for sale at the yard sale I’ll be participating with friends, Oct. 3. Email me if you want info.

I was looking for a piece that stood out, you know, I believe every room should have that wow piece that makes people know what to look at once they enter a room. I thought about a black antique chinoiserie but finding one isn’t easy. This grasscloth media console from Kathy Kuo was it for me. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and that blue!! It’s just gorgeous, and it’s much slimmer than what I had previously – which worked well because it was made more for those big bulky flat screens opposed to the slim ones we’ve had for oh, a decade now. See how old my media console was? So, I pulled the trigger and then I got an email the next day that it’s not able to come until late November. Nooooooo!

So I went antique shopping to try to find something unique but it wasn’t successful. Altho, I did spot other furniture items and now I’m headed back this morning to get them!

Now this means this has now snowballed into getting a tv mount, mounting the TV, hiring an electrician, yada yada…. so it begins. I’ll spare the project lineup details (for now) but I hope to get this completed by fall, or at least somewhat before all the parties I’m hosting happen. There’s nothing like a bit of motivation by putting a party on the calendar and that makes you move a little quicker! *wink*
