Wahooo! Fireworks mean we scored – and we sure did this past weekend at the UofA homecoming game against the Oregon Ducks. 44 to 15!
I was honored to be asked by the UA Alumni Association to cover the homecoming festivities and I can’t wait to share that on the alumni site this fall. I’m going through photos and just loving all the memories I made. Melayne flew out and I picked her up on Thursday from the Phoenix airport and we headed down south to Tucson (takes two hours) for three days of fun. Shamrock Farms provided us a pair of tickets to the homecoming game which was perfect since I was already planning on being down there!
I had a packed schedule of events I needed to attend as well as photograph and attending the homecoming game was a great way to end the fun-filled days. The fact that we won, well that was the best part! Oregon is a pretty tough team, they have been so good for so long so the win was a huge surprise, I’m so proud of our players.
The tickets for the homecoming game were right on the 50 yard line – thanks Shamrock Farms – they have a longtime relationship with the University of Arizona and now have a new partnership with their Rockin’ Protein drink.
Rockin’ Protein is the official protein beverage of the Arizona Wildcats and Shamrock Farms is the official milk partner. It’s a delicious protein beverage made with real milk, a great way to nourish your body with protein made from pure and fresh Shamrock Farms milk. You can find the drink in the dairy case at the grocery, look for the signature green top.
There is also a Shamrock Farms cafe on campus, they have ice cream and coffee at the student union and I say, lucky students!
We enjoyed walking around the tailgate party, it was a rather toasty day but it was fun to collect some swag, eat a hot dog (my favorite, haha!) and then get ready to head to the game.
In addition to student-athletes having access to Rockin’ Protein, there are Protein Performance Stations in the football and Olympic Sport training facilities, and you can see advertising at UofA – like below – see behind the goal posts.
I am thankful for companies who support my alma mater. Shamrock Farms also is donating up to 50,000 servings of milk to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona and you can participate. If you plan on attending the Duel in the Desert game (that’s UofA and ASU that super fun rivalry game we all look forward to every season), look for the Protein Pushup Challenge Shamrock Farms is hosting.
For every pushup you can do in 30 seconds, Shamrock Farms will donate additional serving of milk. You can also participate online by showing how many you can do and share it on social, just use the hashtag #ProteinPushupChallenge. I wonder how many push ups I can do in 30 seconds…hmm….
Here I am on campus explaining it on IG stories – and having a good time –
^^ I always have fun with this girl
Melayne played volleyball at UofA as a setter and I knew she had to come with me to experience this because first, she gets what I do so much, supports me and also takes great photos of me patiently (must have for my +1) and she’s a super UofA fan like me! We’re both alums and I couldn’t imagine anyone else making this trip down memory lane with me.
It’s ironic that we didn’t meet at UofA even though we went at the same time, we actually met through competing at a Miss Arizona USA pageant and we instantly bonded, it’s like we just clicked. We talked about that over the weekend – how wonderful is it that we have chemistry even with friendships? It’s magical.
It was a fabulous weekend, so thankful to feel like I was back in college again thanks to homecoming. It’s a wonderful experience to love a time of your life so much that you can’t wait to return again and again and say, yes, that’s MY school!
Grateful for the UA Alumni Association for putting on a great homecoming and Shamrock Farms for the homecoming game tickets! Bear Down!
