January is one of my favorite months – it’s slower in my industry, blogging that is. December is full on manic panic – for those gift guides and that heavy credit card charging time, and January is when brands meet their marketing teams to create new budgets for the new year. I love the slowness because it gives me time to do the things I’ve been dying to cross off my list anyway – home projects and business and also the blog improvement workshops I am attending. And let’s face it – the weather rocks in Phoenix right now so I can do the outside things, too.
I have no idea where I’m going in 2018 – and by this I mean travel-wise. I have always been going somewhere internationally for the past few years and now I’m not quite sure it’s going to happen! First, it’s getting harder to find friends to travel with and second, babies and kids means friends are on lockdown. I know, feel sorry for me.
We have a few domestic trips that are scheduled, one for sure is Victoria, Canada and to me Canada is like north Seattle. I’ve been there a few times but it’s been a long time since I’ve been, my girlfriend is getting married in a castle! Then there might be a family trip I take with my parents so between all of that and also one of my girlfriends moving to San Diego, I already foresee a lot domestic trips in my future. Also two of my closest girlfriends just got engaged (Melayne and Rachel former International travel buddies for Ireland and Thailand) and will have weddings in 2018 so there’s that!
Doesn’t mean I can’t squeeze in an international trip if it comes up, but I can’t decide where. Do you have any recommendations? Though I’ve been to over a dozen countries, there are obviously so many countries I haven’t been, the world is SO BIG. The countries I feel like I should include Italy and Spain, but I feel like everyone has already been there and I’ve seen it through so many photos – I know lame excuse. I had Australia on the list but my gf said it’s like America but south of the globe, LOL.
In addition to traveling expenses which I typically save up for, this year we may start on the home expansion – I can’t make up my mind what I want that room to be other than an additional living space and crossover guest room/entertaining room. My biggest concern – making sure that room is used, often. The last thing I want is a room that we spend money on that sits there looking pretty.
And – I want a new home office – yep, the 4th makeover, but this time I want to get rid of all my furniture (minus the couch I just added last year). I have my eye on some fancy furniture and I just want to graduate already – to better furniture to continue to buy the quality that I love and won’t outgrow for another 5-10 years.
A few more things I wish to be involved more in this year, my alumni chapter up here (Go Wildcats!) and serving our veterans who are very near to my heart. I just have this passion for our military, and vets and I just want to find a way to serve them so if you also recommend an organization, please let me know.
I know the new year has already started but have you realized how quickly time flies? Don’t wait, life goes by so much sooner than you think. Which then has me thinking, where DO I want to go next?? Where do you want to go next?
