Join me for a spending freeze week
*Results of the spending week challenge post here*
I was recently inspired by a video I watched on YouTube by Jordan Page (who I am now girl crushing on) and she had a challenge for a spending freeze week.
So I was talking to my girlfriend Ashley of Pineapple Diary – we do Skype sessions to catch up, talk biz and personal and she’s like, let’s do it! Join us for a spending freeze on Monday, March 12 to Sunday March 18, 2018. We will use hashtag #spendingfreeze. I’m telling you early incase you need to mentally prepare, but also if you’re a plan ahead person with a busy travel or meeting schedule you can block it off now to avoid any meetings or plans that week.
Spending freeze rules
- 7 days
- No eating out
- No groceries
- No renting movie
- No baby sitter
- No rentals
- No gifts
- Emergency or bills are OK
- You can use a gift card, voucher
- No out of pocket, just wait
The propose is to train your brain to say no, to not give into impulses, just to bring it back (while nothing is wrong with buying things) but this will be good practice to tell yourself no. In addition, this will save a good chunk of money in a few days the can be toward any debt you may have or saving toward other things – like vacations or the emergency fund.
You can start to just decide to do it like tomorrow, but for me – and Ashley, we have to plan because we have vacations, guest visits, and things planned so we figure if we block it off ahead of time. What I plan on doing is not taking any meetings, outings or shopping trips. I’ll be working, doing some sewing projects, and doing projects around the house.
If you have more questions check out the video by Jordan and see what she says about how this works. Join us for a spending freeze on Monday, March 12 to Sunday March 18, 2018. We will use hashtag #spendingfreeze. I’ll remind you probably twice more but it might be best to get it on your calendar now and block it out! :)
If any of you plan on joining, let me know, I’ll send out an email reminder. We are both going to post how it went after the spending freeze and will be linking to everyone who posts about their experience.
