Outside my window… It’s sunny the temperature at 9:30 am and 76 and partly cloudy. High of 86. Hallelujah I’ve made it through the Phoenix summer and life outdoors is about to get real good.
I am thinking… about how when I watch too much Downton Abbey (my third time watching the series) my mind starts speaking Old English. Like, “Very well” tonight I am seeing the movie since I’m finally back in town with Nicole.
I am thankful for… health, my home, my parents, friends, hard working hubby, the travel opportunities, and the work I do. I read on the plane as I often do the book “Rise and Grind” by Raymond John from Shark Tank. I wanted to share this with you to encourage you. You might be like me, just chasing and working so hard and sometimes you forget that you are living the life you always dreamed of:
From the kitchen… I just made myself a coffee. I added labels to the inside of my fridge for what needs to go on each shelf – dairy, fruits, Benjamin’s health, sodas, it really has helped me know what I’m running out of and puts everything back in their place.
I am wearing… still in pajamas because I couldn’t wait to work (also need to catch up on many things since I didn’t bring my laptop with me on the trip which was wonderful!) Also I haven’t changed because I am waiting for my new iPhone 11 Max Pro to get here and I don’t want to miss the doorbell ringing. OK, that’s a stretch I know I can change, but I did wash my face and dry shampoo my hair so I’m half ready for the day. This set from Shopbop.
I am creating… we have moved along with landscape design, Kameron Schaffner of K Design is our landscape designer (she’s also an incredibly talented interior designer) and I am so excited to meet with her next week to go over landscape plans. We have a Saturday meeting with a contractor and modified our garage plans in hopes that will bring the cost down. I couldn’t justify spending so much on a garage that won’t enhance my lifestyle.
I am going… to be working on Saturday. All week no work (that’s not 100% true because I did answer emails and take photos) but I have campaigns I need to photograph on Saturday. It’s the trade off for when I take time, sometimes I have to work on Saturdays because I need Benjamin all day to help me – I still hire a photographer as well to help out.
I am reading… Since I finished a business book on the plane rides, I am going to start my next book I don’t know which one yet. I also have to go through some new diaries I found while at home that I knew were missing. I now have a total of 22 diaries from my childhood to twenties. I stopped writing in a diary once I started blogging and I’m quite sad about it (see that Downton Abbey influence?). Blogging is kind of like a diary but it’s not as transparent sometimes, like you can’t just start saying every terrible thing you’re feeling or the dumb things you’re thinking on a blog. No one will want to read that stuff. So, I have to sort through the diary entries to find the one for next month. Some entries make me cringe and get very sad, childhood bullying and such, but I’m glad I had a diary to write it out and express my feelings. I’m on the lookout for the funny ones, and they seem to be much more comedic when I was young and innocent which I think makes it even more funny.
I am hoping… I can focus this weekend and get everything done and most important — be in the moment. Sometimes I feel like I’m rushing to get though it and get to the next thing on my calendar or to-do list. This usually means I’m overwhelmed or just too task oriented. I want to just be present.
I am hearing… Silence. No music playing because I tend to start writing terribly when there’s a distraction and I’m writing.
Around the house… Around midnight last night I decided to tackle the changing of the drawer pulls in my bathroom! 12 of them! It was a bigger process than just switching them out because of the shortness of the screws (and the former screws not fitting with the new ones) so I had to drill the holes bigger so the screw could reach the other side. I’m so handy you guys, you would be impressed, I’m a really great problem solver. Now if only I had more muscles and knowledge about building things I would build the garage myself. *wink*
One of my favorite things… I love being home! I do love to travel and see friends and family and would much rather do that all the time of course, but when I’m home, boy do I love it.
A few plans for the rest of the week… It’s the weekend yay! It starts tonight, Downton Abbey movie, then Saturday morning contractor meeting, makeup and hair arrives to get me ready for the shoots, Benjamin and I will shoot then I have dinner with my “Unkie” who is an Uncle I have adopted as my Uncle who has been a huge part of my salvation and reading the New Testament all the way through with me. He’s a friend of my dads from church I met over 10 years ago who happens to be in town. Sunday church, then my gf Kate who is a stylish organizer (and a former bride client when I photographed weddings) is coming over for dinner before I take her to the airport. It’ll be a busy but very fun weekend. Then, we start all over again with Monday!
A picture to share… From last week at Cannon Beach, Oregon I was so excited to finally see. Then dad said he took me there when I was younger. Sometimes you just don’t remember those things you did when you were little, oops. hah!
Diana Elizabeth always watches Downton Abbey with eyes wide open – to observe the home decor, the furniture, the sights, all of it. As everyone tells her, she is an old soul. She loves the cobblestone streets, the cottages, English life – European life (because it’s so old!) and it makes her feel like she’s traveling.
