Our history of 12 years of friendship has taken us on several trips together and the past five years we decided we love heading to Vegas every early summer because it’s open 24 hours. Not that we need to do something at all hours of the day, but we could. And the time of day doesn’t really matter in Vegas, which is incredible when you want to eat later because it takes two hours to get ready for dinner, and you stay up late giggling and eating in bed and sleep in until 11 am to start your day. It’s the time to be together, sleep in, unplug (but share what we’re doing) and get dolled up, borrow each other’s makeup and share makeup tips and tricks – like our old pageant days.
And Vegas, so much to do and the best thing is there’s a crowd of people doing the same thing, in pajamas, dressed up or dressed down, you’re around people but also doing your own thing. So for us who love to be around people but not really be around people if you know what I mean, Vegas is always a great place, and it really is the place to go all out which we love doing – without having to walk across a stage in swimsuit and in front of judges.
Here we are sitting on the same couch, we’ve taken a photo here over the years, this our third time on this couch, and our fifth year together in Vegas.
We finally got tickets to Michael Jackson’s ONE a cirque du soleil show and it was a blast! We’ve been wanting to go for the past four years and finally did it! They played “Dirty Diana” which was so fun for me, haha! With a few highlights like the paparazzi going up to Melayne asking her what her favorite song was, to the zombie thing guys scaring Jennifer twice, we had so much laughs and really enjoyed the show.
Doing the Miss Arizona USA pageant was one of the best decisions of my life – because of these girls. Jennifer I met through an Asian pageant and we became friends instantly and I only competed in the USA system with Melayne (the bride) and through mutual friends met Brenna who was Miss Arizona USA and Sommer and we all like knew each other at different points in our life and just worked great together. We are missing our friend Nicole who was Miss Arizona (in the America system) but she’s always at our pajama Christmas party. If we can get 5 out of the 6 of us it’s a good day, if we can get all 6 of us together that’s a special occasion – like Melayne’s fall wedding yay!!!
I was just doing my casual moonwalking in this photo, just incase you’re wondering why I’m so far away from the girls.
We took a few show photos too and were surprised they turned out so fun that we bought the prints (I had to scan these) and so you know, you can buy the digitals cheaper and unfortunately they don’t come with the prints you buy which is super odd… anyway!
Jen brought these cute Bride and Bride Tribe sashes from Amazon and the funny thing was guys didn’t get it and thought we were all brides! There were so many confusing remarks who were like, how are you all brides? But the girls got it.
We had a delicious dinner at Libertine Social, a tapas like meal for us and we really enjoyed it and thankful for AJ for the hookup all weekend.
We did go to a club because we had a comped table at LIGHT which was close to our hotel and we had a table. We just had fun dancing and just celebrating being with each other until almost 2 am. I was already falling asleep like I was so tired I couldn’t even handle it, lol, I almost fell asleep at the club. We slept in until 11 am yesssss and that was our pool day at Daylight beach club – a cabana by the pool for us with our own body guard.
I booked us a table for Benihana that night but the girls got tired and wanted to shower, be in pajamas and order take out (or as I like to call it take IN) and watch shows on the royal wedding. So we did that instead because it’s not about where we go or what we do, it’s always about girl time.
By the way, I wasn’t a fan of the dress or makeup. That’s just my opinion and I also freaking loved Camilla’s pink feather hat. So take that for what it’s worth ;) I don’t know much about Meghan Markle but she is quite stunning and I love watching them be in love. It gives me all the feels seeing them together for as little as I know about her.
I always start to cry when I think about Princess Diana not being around to see all this, then I get angry and then I realized I need to calm down. I just get all emotional about it to this day!
Anyway, back to Vegas. We are thankful for AJ and her sweet hospitality for us. The partly overcast day and a good Sunday for not being overcrowded was a great time at the beach club. I didn’t mind the jams, it was the perfect weather and day to be outside. I would totally do it again – but it has to be that way haha. The virgin Pina coladas are amazing!
My suit is coming up on the blog, it’s Smeralda and I love the ruffle bikini bottom! Reminds me of my J.Crew shorts I have from last season that I love.
I didn’t go tanning or get a tanning spray, instead I bought an instant tanner that has SPF in it. I have allergies with self-tanner it makes me itch and go into a bad rash. So I remember DuWop had Revolotion but it’s sold out so I found Body Per-fekt which is a matte tan SPF 30 and it goes on and makes you instantly tan and it protects!! It was like body makeup. It’s 50% off right now and I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
Thanks to each of my gfs for taking my photo this trip. They all take turns and happily take them and PATIENTLY take them, lol. I mean they really are the most supportive best friends, all of my girlfriends are. I have won the lottery with them and it has always been my life goal to have a great “collection of friends” as I once heard someone describe another person when I was 20. My collection is precious.
A favorite fountain of ours. ‘Merica.
We also checked out The Neon Museum – see the post here. It’s a must-see if you are in Vegas and wanting to do something different other than walk the strip (I never want to do that again after all the times I’ve been, over that!)
So now back to the Royal Wedding. The day was all about it and so when we checked out Black Tap for the milkshake, they had a special royal wedding milkshake!!
We had to get it because well, Melayne’s a bride and why the heck not?! Do you even have to think about it?
It was INCREDIBLY delicious, like yellow cake with REAL frosting. I want more. And you can definitely share a $20 milkshake with 5. We actually gave the rest to the nice guys at the table behind us who were celebrating their buddy getting married.
And just like that, I left with a full heart. Girl time, girls that are like sisters to me. We put in the time to show up, to celebrate with one another life moments, and to have a bond like this that has lasted 12 years. Or love for each other is truly unconditional and has made it through the test of time. I have so much love for these gals.
As always we plan for our next Vegas trip, hopefully Backstreet Boys.
If you have any unique recommendations on things to check out in Vegas, let me know in the comments.
