One of our past Christmas card photos, taken by Melissa Schollaert
I have two questions for you –
- Have you already taken your Christmas card photo?
- Have you ordered your Christmas cards?
I’m between 1 and 2 – as in I have sort of order my Christmas cards, half of them. I ordered my cards for client PR to thank them, and that’s one thing off my list thankfully but the personal cards are another thing. Right now it seems like mini sessions are hot and have wrapped up for the most part around Phoenix.
Benjamin and I took our Christmas photos while on vacation, if I can give a hint I’ll tell you it was in Yellowstone and we are not as dressed up as we have been in our cards since we’ve been taking them. My dad took the photo and I had the outfit and the day planned, the rest I didn’t have planned and it turned out amazing.
Do you keep your Christmas card photo secret or do you already start to post them immediately? I keep mine under wraps, because I know my friends like surprises.
I know the photo orientation and how many photos I want and this year I’m printing with Minted again like I did last year – they do the printed envelope thing too for free which is so convenient.
Remember that one year I did calligraphy for all 200 envelopes? My list is down to 130 now but I will not be handwriting ever again. Haha! I just need to organize my excel list to get those ordered and I enlist Benjamin’s help as he stuffs them in front of the TV watching sports.
I’m loving technology nowadays how you can upload your photo and just see it immediately. Too much fun. I thought I’d share a few of my favorite cards – with and without foil that I’ve found – remember these fit my orientation and text placement for where I need it :)
There are hundreds of designs and I like that on the back you can write a note. Some years we’ve written notes, other times I just didn’t feel like it, I kind of felt like my friends already knew I traveled here there and everywhere and just wanted to send a photo. This year I think we’ll write a note because we have other images to share on the back that explains a bit more of where those photos were taken.
Anyway, I love Christmas cards! Sending and receiving and I have about 5 huge Post-It notes on my desk with different tasks and “order Christmas cards” is on there and I thought if I’d just write a post on it, it would make me work on it!
My 3 FAVORITE FLAT CARDS
My 3 FAVORITE FOIL CARDS
Last year we did foil cards and they looked incredible. I’m debating which to do this year, but foil sure gets me!
There are always specials with Minted so check out what is going now and get those ordered, another thing to check off on your list early so you can enjoy the holidays, they will be here before you know it!

Minted is the best! So chic and the ability to add personal touches makes them so unique.
