THE ENGLISH GARDEN LOOK

Less formal than a French garden, the English garden is casual, whimsical and showcases a gardener's love for nature to do its thing. Here are some ways to make your backyard feel like an English garden.

Lots of roses!

1

Buy lots of roses in the color palette you enjoy. Look for English roses - they have more petals and would really make your garden magical!

Lavender

2

Lavender is whimsical and there are many varieties from Spanish lavender, French and fernleaf. My personal favorite is fernleaf lavender.

Pastel colored florals

3

English gardens are filled with lots of colors, but to get a cohesive look, stick with pastels. I prefer pink, and lavender with pops of white and pink to keep my garden palette cohesive.

Install trellises and arbors

4

It's beautiful to see blooms overhead - support blooms with an arbor to climb or a trellis to fill a blank wall. Here are more ideas -

Fill a blank wall with vines

Install trellises for climbing roses

Use bamboo for support stakes

5

Have different heights and widths if you need to support your artichokes or tomatoes.
