How to refresh a bathroom style
My clothing style has been shifting, along with the home projects, the dining room, kitchen, and so on (as in, more to come). I’ve come to realize sometimes, simply clearing out all the accessories and starting with a clean slate and adding in touches can really transform a room – and it’s also very budget friendly in comparison to a demolition.
For the bathroom project I ordered all of my bathroom goodies from Horchow, a beautiful home decor site that has everything from bedding, tabletop, bath, lighting, office, and furniture. Starting today, Horchow is having a Finders Savers Event (ends 9/28). There are different deals across the site from 20%, 30% to 40% and you won’t know the exact discount until you check out for your saving deal.
If you need a bed or bath refresh because items are tired or you’re itching for a new style in your home, dining room, bedroom, anything regarding home – this is the time! Here’s our updated bathroom, you may notice we got new shutters for four of our windows, the bathroom included –
I requested the shutters to have top and bottom shutters separated so you could close the bottoms for privacy but leave the top for natural light. I wanted this space to be clean, and thankfully the vanities I picked are pretty classic and should last a long time so decorating around it to transform the space is easy!
Here are some bathroom tips to redo your style on a budget – without making your husband cringe at the price tag.
- Remove everything from the bathroom. Rug, toothbrush, decor, towels everything you can see – curtains and blinds if removable.
- Consider the easy fixes. Replace paint color, knobs, fixtures, and curtains. Even a toilet handle would be a nice and affordable upgrade.
- Pick your style and theme.
I’ve lived with many different styles over the years, college, first three apartments out of college, first townhome to the house we live in now. Trends change, and so do your tastes as you transition to different stages of your life. Here’s how I decided to spruce up my bathroom, which guests use as well, it’s located right off the hallway.
This Jonathan Adler zebra bath rug comes in 4 colors and I squealed when I saw it – I first fell in love with the Jonathan Adler zebra stacking dish so when I discovered the rug that can be flipped if you want soft or loop rug, I think I died. I also want to share that these accessories are incredibly affordable and especially so during the sale, so take a peek and see what you can find with this 48 Finders Savers Event – 20% 30% 40% sale!
I had to get the matching Jonathan Adler zebra stacking dish (this color combo exclusive to Horchow) to match the rug. This goes on the “guest vanity” with the La Boheme apothecary jars on the Jonathan Adler lacquer vanity tray. I decided to get a matching vanity tray for my side too.
I love the cane embossed porcelain tumbler to hold my makeup brushes, the pattern was just fun. I think vanity trays are such a great place to designate your items, it kind of just feels more like an area instead of them randomly sitting on a counter corner. It also keeps your items dry incase of a splash from washing your face.
I picked up matching Nest fragrances liquid soap in orange blossom and found these lovely towels. These are Scents and Feel Fouta herringbone hand towels and come in several versions – this is black.
Here’s a better look at my half glass shower door. I absolutely love it and I wanted one after my Ireland trip. It was so convenient getting in and out of the shower and it does swing out as well if you needed full tub access.
I think these touches really updated my bathroom with the new window shutters. It also made me realize what I don’t have to leave on the countertop or on the bathroom shelving – I love how clean it looks!
Be sure to take advantage of Horchow‘s unique Finders Savers Event sale, 20% 30% or 40% – it ends 9/28! I’m on the hunt for new dishes that can be sed for every day and fancy enough for holiday and can be microwavable. Meet you on Horchow!

Though I would probably go with a rubber mat, I can dream of having the exact same style for my own bathroom. Everything just looks natural, the clean qualities are just oozing right out of everything.
