Life lately: The Garden, Our Home, and What’s Next

Personal things

Where to even begin, quite a few changes and some real life things. If you follow me on Instagram you have sort of known what I’ve been up to but I’ll share a bit more.

Summer in the PNW was wonderful, we were there for almost a month with friends, what an escape from the heat! I also got to explore all the Twilight things with Benjamin which was true perfection to do that. We had SO.MUCH.FUN! I posted a reel on it if you’re interested, and while I would share a ton of photos, I’m unsure how many of you are Twilight Saga fans. We went to Forks, did all the book stops and things, I shopped my heart out, went to the museum and then we drove down to Oregon to see movie locations. It was truly one of my favorite things we have done this year.

Murder Mystery dinner

I’ve jumped back into parties and socializing because summer is over and we’re all back! I had a fun Dolly Parton cookbook club party and an incredible Murder Mystery party we attended. My friends are so fun!

Dolly Parton Cookbook Club

Also went to Vegas to see Backstreet Boys for the 2nd and 3rd time – we went two nights in a row! Also just recently got back from New Kids on the Block!!! I had the time of my life. Life is good and very fun.

Now onto the hard parts of life. One of my best friend’s daddy’s sadly passed away after a long health battle last month. He was one of my favorite people and I have more photos with him than any friend’s dad. I love her family so much and so that has been quite heavy for us. We’ve spent holidays – Easter and Christmas and New Years over the years together. It has been hard entering midlife as these losses and goodbyes and more common now. Through my own grief and experience of unexpectedly losing my dad last summer I know how to really show up for my friends and hope to be a true friend through these losses.

House plans

We have plans to expand our home, nothing I have announced anywhere else except here. We have been planning with architects for the past year to add on and our plans are at the city now just a few weeks away from getting our final permit. This may mean more posts at least on Instagram especially if you want to follow along. Friends have suggested I go LIVE on YouTube and see how that goes. It sounds fun but I don’t know if I’m looking for a job job right now. I seem to only be able to focus on Instagram right now but hope to enter TikTok (I know I’m late but you’re only ready when you’re ready). So if you want to find me on there, it’s @itsdianaelizabeth and I’ll be doing something very different than Instagram, that’s the plan for now, anyway.

The garden

I have finally gotten back into gardening – something that usually takes a backseat because summer is too hot and this week in Phoenix it’s below 90! Because we’ll be doing some changes with our home I’m unsure how to work in the garden much. I’ll add some victoria blue salia by the orchard since they all seemed to die – and that area won’t be touched by the construction.

I finally pruned the front iceberg rose hedge which was a MESS. I no longer want a rose hedge – which I plan to share on Instagram why. It’s just messy looking most of the year. I also don’t want as many and my back hurts.

We’ve planted winter rye and it makes the best weather so real. Entertaining season is upon us.

Where you can find me

I love blogging, however as people consume less on blogs (but it’s still very important) I have spent more time on Instagram and Facebook to share links and my finds. It’s just so much easier and the views are higher. However, I have changed the format of my blog possts being delivered to your inbox. so it shows the entire blog post instead of you having to click to read it. Since times have changed and blog post clicks aren’t part of criteria for brands, I’ve decided to make it easier. I won’t do a Substack, it’s just not another thing I want to do or charge. So if you’re so inclined to know more up to date things on what I’m up to and also get garden tips – find me @dianaelizabeth_

I will still be here – I need to share sales and excellent links and codes for you! I will also take photos and upload them. So give me some time as I reorganize my brain. It’s been a tough year of grieving and I’m doing better now. We still have a lot to do with moving my mom here eventually and that will take some time. But it’s what we have to do and I know my dad would be so proud of what we’re doing and how we’re living. He loved life to the fullest and wanted us to have fun and that’s what we’re trying to do until we see him again.

One thing I always come back to is how much I love creating a home where people feel welcome. Whether it’s a dinner with friends, a themed party, a pretty tablescape, or simply using the good dishes on an ordinary day, I think those little moments deserve to be celebrated.

I also want to keep sharing the finds, projects, and everyday inspiration that make this space feel like me.

So, no big announcement today. Just a little hello, a life update, and a reminder that there’s plenty happening around here even when I’m not writing about all of it.

Thank you for being here, whether you’ve followed along for years or just found your way to my little corner of the internet.

Here’s to more gardening, decorating, entertaining, and making a home and life we love.

xx,
Diana Elizabeth
