Home for a week

I went home for a week, it has been a year and a half since I have seen my parents and I really missed them! So I just set aside time and said now was a better time than ever to spend some time hanging out with my parents!

G
oing home was a big deal for me, having been away from my parents for so long. Benjamin was able to join for Labor Day weekend too briefly and that was nice!

It was good quality time, hanging out, and sleeping in, and also discussing some life stuff which is hard – end of life planning but it needs to be done.

I don’t like discussing life without my parents but it’s going to happen one day. It’ll be so hard, but I am thankful my parents are organized and prepared. It might make it a little easier. Not a lot, but I know my parents love me enough to plan for this.

We went thrift shopping, but I didn’t find anything! I saw my high school best friend and she made some yummy crab cakes for us! She invited my parents over too which was a fun treat. I love our history and old friends, it’s a treasure to still keep in touch.

I look at Becky and I’m like are we still in high school? We cannot have had our 20 year high school reunion (another one I chose to miss) could we? I wish I went to the reunions now, I did have a good experience in high school though I didn’t peek then, college was by far my jam and I loved every minute of college! You probably all knew that though with how much I have mentioned it on this blog over the years.

I also tried on my mom’s stage dresses about 50 years later. Most fit, some were very small as I’m a bit taller. Also, my mom wore them when she was in her mid-20s, and well, I am not.

I know, I am thin but I’m saying it would’ve been better in my early 20s haha but then again, who knew I’d be interested in them?  I’m taking some home with me and I have to figure out what to do with them. They aren’t super comfortable, I wish I could display them they really are pieces of art like Becky said. They don’t make dresses like them anymore! If you have any ideas let me know.

Here are a few stories if you missed them –

I thought about doing a reels in the outfits but the idea of trying them on, the effort, I am in such a different place right now with life and work goals. I am not on IG to be an entertainer or grow a following. I’m in an entirely different place so the motivation has changed. If I want to do it, I will :)

Here is my latest Juicy Couture purchase, I wore this on the plane and felt so stylish haha! It’s my way of having a Juicy outfit without “Juicy” across my bum.

Top: Juicy Couture on sale on Zappos (I wore size M) / Pants: Juicy Couture on sale on Zappos (I wore my regular size S)

I had commented on a friend’s photo she drew and she gifted it to me! She has known my parents from church for years. Cute chickens right?

Anyway, thanks for reading. I like to upload my memories here too. Using the blog much more as a real personal blog a little more often. Heading home, a few home things to do but still waiting for the weather to cool down until I can really get things done.
