When I was in Mexico for a blogging press trip, I was asked where the hubs was – I explained I had already made a commitment that weekend to spend with my girls. A boyfriend of a new blogger friend said, “Don’t feel too bad for him, it’s the first week of football season, he’s probably loving it.” Once he said that, I was like, “You are right!” Shortly after, I started receiving emails over the weekend of rental receipts for Dead Pool and Rambo. I came home to leftover thin crust pizza in the fridge. He had the ultimate man-filled weekend.
If your husband or man in your life is anything like mine, he’s going to be on the couch working on that couch indentation this fall because it’s football season! I’ve been hearing the countdown for the past month.
If you’re a hostess type, you may have some entertaining to do and so I thought I’d give a few ideas to get your home, table, or coffee table touchdown ready for the weekend so your husband and friends can enjoy hours in front of the tube without having to miss that epic play!
You might see Safeway and Albertsons super football festive lately – that’s where you can find all the Coca-Cola® and COCA-COLA® ZERO SUGAR drinks.

- Have a phone charger – or two extended to the couch area
- Plenty of drinks – COKE ZERO SUGAR for my husband
- Easy snacks from bakery – cupcakes – team cupcakes a bonus to make it fun!
- Snacks with protein – cheese, meats – I prefer to cook sausages, so easy.
- Empty bowls for nut shells, dips, etc.
Make it easy for you – pick up some ready made dip, a bag of chips, and drinks – and of course order pizza if it’s easier! But sometimes pizza wait is long, so if you want to add a homemade tailgate touch, I love sausage links and I create spirals with a knife – I go over it twice.
I like the look of spiraling the sausages because it looks pretty, cooks more evenly, has more of the charing area (for delicious crispiness), allows for condiments to fall in the grooves instead of sliding off – and I think it’s just more appealing and if the food looks pretty, I hear it tastes better too – which is good for me.
