Christmas is put away and the photo studio is now the storage shed (again)!

Shelving (can you even see it?): BROR IKEA shelving unit

I have been in a stage of rest. No nail polish, no toenail polish sometimes  – now that’s NUTS, don’t tell anyone! And I’m in a slow pace for January and it feels great. I’m purging but also deep cleaning. How about you?

I thought I’d tackle taking down Christmas after my parents left after a two week fun stay but instead, I enlisted their help and my goodness I NEEDED their help! I also think this was Benjamin’s strategy because he knew he would have to help me once they left HAHA. I have never decorated to this Christmas extreme before, I went maybe 40% extra, but I did it for our Christmas Homeworthy episode tour. If you haven’t seen it yet, click here.

Now here’s the thing – taking down Christmas may not be a big deal, but when you add more things and my friends at Williams-Sonoma sent a lot for my filming which I’m so grateful for! So I had to figure out how I was going to store it because I didn’t end up getting rid of any Christmas. Next year I will be purging a bit of my old things. I’m just such a Christmas person I love stuff!

I bought some new IKEA shelving, put it together and purchased new storage containers too, I bought the weather tight which might not be necessary but I love them! These weather tight containers would be great for a basement or anywhere you fear water or bugs would get into your things, I like some of them come with wheels! I also labeled which room each box was for. I’m telling you this will change everything!

Many years ago my storage studio was turned into a photo studio:

When the storage shed was a photo studio

If you want to see the reveal blog post when I turned it into a photo studio, click here. I am now semi-retired from photo studio photography (I can set up in the garden room easily) and I no longer create blogging content the way I used to. We don’t have a garage (it’s open-air) so this is the storage we have. Also – it used to be a grow house by the previous owners, as I was told by a neighbor. LOL ummm no wonder there were motion sensor lights on every corner when I moved in!!

This space was before I had more stuff. Like decor and plates, and entertaining was my thing, but not to the capacity it is now. Somehow when time goes by you just get more and more stuff…but I do use it all and if I don’t, it gets donated… after a year or two if we’re being honest. ;) Or if I need to make room for other new things.

But I also know that one day, I will one day be done entertaining or not entertain to the level that I do now, so these things will be donated, but for now, this is where I am in life so the photo studio houses my entertaining and decor things! I do still need to minimize a bit, and I’m working on it :)

Do you see the labels on the boxes? I love a good label on everything! And see through containers too – I prefer to be able to see inside. I’m linking below the storage containers I love!

The curtains are also still up and behind it is paint, some holiday items like Americana, NYE, Easter – again, I gotta work on condensing it more, I figure when I get to the box again to take down then I can edit. I’m telling you, if you’re going to be a hostess you’re going to need more storage :)

I hope you are organizing, purging and resetting this year! Happy New Year!
