Christmas around here

Hello friends! Christmas is around the corner, and I always think the season is too short even though I put up Christmas beginning of November — for the Christmas Homeworthy tour of course. I have absolutely been taking it in and watching lots of TV in this room to enjoy the glow of the Christmas lights and I never turn them off! They’ve been on since I put them up in November.

I’ll probably take down Christmas mid-January. No rush. Nothing planned in January that is immediate and I can’t wait to slow down a bit and give my roses a hard prune and slowly box Christmas away.

I will be packing up by room and labeling the boxes for the room. It will be much easier to unpack and I may attempt to zip tie a lot of garland together to see if it will make it easier to put up the following year. I can always cut it if it ends up being a mess. Stay tuned.

I thought I’d share photos of our spaces even though I did in an earlier post when I discussed Homeworthy episode details, but I wanted to share it again and there are so many more photos. I’ll also add product links to the end of this post.

This is perhaps the most festive room in the house, flows right off of the kitchen/dining room area. It faces south so the room gets bright with the skylights, transoms and French doors but we tinted the windows a mirror tint. I think it’s not bright enough now but I suppose in the summer I’m glad it helps with the rays and protecting the furniture.

My friends at Williams-Sonoma gifted me a lot of garland and I was so pleased and I thought I didn’t have enough room but there’s always room for beautiful light up garland! So I added this above our bed and I love how festive it makes our bedroom.

In the living room which is the front room and perhaps technically a family room??? Anyway I added garland here and the ribbon is from Michael’s. I have probably gone in that store a dozen times over the season for ribbon, paint, crafts, I feel so lucky to have one so close by! I have always been a crafty person and child so it’s wonderful to be able to pop in anytime.

My friend Vicky let me borrow a few of her MacKenzie-Child’s items for my Homeworthy tour and I am so in love with them I have to buy them as soon as they go on sale after Christmas!

Not bad for a faux stovetop fire place right? I just plug it in and behind the screen you can’t even tell! I’m over the wood burning and the soot on my custom curtains and I just want the ambiance without the hassle. I’d love to install a gas fireplace but the idea of a mess and another project has me thinking, we’ll pass.

This is our big entertaining area too. The over the rod on the island is the focal pint, hides the kitchen mess and I think adds some festivity to the area!

The more I upload images the more I realize how much I’m about to have to put away come January! Oh my!! But like I said, I’ll pace myself and label everything. The good thing is to have photos and post them so I can reference back but let’s be honest, every new season I’m trying to be creative in a new way! Things never look exactly the same.

I hope you have a wonderful Christmas holiday wherever you are! May you feel the love and peace of God this season.
