I was complaining to my esthetician how my hands were totally dry – from this dry heat, living in the desert, gardening, oh, just getting older! I’ve tried the mittens that are lined but I get hot in them and gave up. She’s like, let me see – you just need to use a paraffin wax on them.

So off to Amazon.com I went and found this at home thermal paraffin bath by Conair and it was under $25 with the wax! I tried it and wanted to report back – it has been a while since I’ve just done a normal product review I’ve purchased so I’m super excited to just share regularly, I finally have some time!

All you do is unwrap the wax block it comes with, and plug it in – it says it takes up to 120 minutes so this isn’t something you can just say, hey I want to do this in 15 minutes. This will take some strategic planning.

I’m a girl who does regular at-home manicures after I had that infection incident and so this isn’t a surprise I’m doing this paraffin spa treatment myself too!

Go clean the house or something ;)

OK, and here we go – it might be too hot if you left it burning too long, if so, just leave the cover off or turn it off so it has a little time to cool. Then you dip your hand in it five times, letting it dry about 10 seconds between.

Wrap it in a plastic bag and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then peel it off. I dipped my foot heel in it too because I really needed some help!

It leaves an oily residue on your hands but it feels so good and it’s like your hands feel like they are quenched!

Pros

Cons

  • It takes 120 minutes (so it says) to melt the block of wax. I didn’t time it but it means you can’t spontaneously want to do it.

Be aware

  • Don’t leave it heating that long or else it’s too hot to put your hand or foot in.
  • Remember to buy the plastic sleeves. Now that I think about it, just use the plastic grocery bags if you want.

Aside from my hands being hot and seeing veins, I think the skin looked so much better and I am excited to add this to my girl’s night in events and indulge in these little simple pleasures – so cheap and I think it helps tremendously! Hope this helps with your dry skin foot/hand issues. Check it out on Amazon here.
