The blog was kinda in a wonky state for a few days earlier this week. It was a short lived mess. But to me, it felt like an eternity because I don’t like having anything out there that one might stumble upon that looks unfinished or a mess (I’m working on that even in my early 40s). However, I have come to accept that this is kind of my reality with old blog posts as codes are broken with a switch to a different design platform. Please give me grace! :)
During this time, I have realized that my more is more decorating mentality also seemed to take that habit over on my blog. Too many pages, so many links, too many columns, so much…everywhere!! It started to look quite messy.
Long story short about why I have a new blog (and a new logo), the blog crashed due to WordPress updates paired with a theme that was old. Things move quickly in the tech world and some developers make a blog template then ditch it after a few years to make new ones so the updates no longer work! So in the future, I figure if I keep my blog simpler the next time this happens I can easily move it over to a new design. But who knows, sometimes a disastrous event forces you to wipe down to a clean slate and forces you to get rid of of the clutter staring you at the face!
But if we’re being honest, I kind of love this – being able to reformat and redesign a blog. I’ve had a website since I was a teen in the AOL days when I was in chatrooms A/S/L? So this nerdy side of me who has known Photoshop when they were on Photoshop 2.0 is a fun creative side of mine, hence why I keep paying monthly to host this blog and boy is it expensive!
Anyway, while I was at it, I decided to make myself a new logo! I designed it myself (did you know I used to be a graphic designer and created logos for brands before 99 Logos came on the market?) I used some elements I purchased from other creators, made my own blue and white vase floral arrangement and added some more things thanks to Photoshop AI. What do you think?
I’m glad to be back, I’ll gather some thoughts and share some finds, so much thrifting happening lately! xx
