Function and beauty, those are two things that are must-have’s for me in 2017. An item must fit one of those things to consider residency in our home, and if it fits both then it most definitely stays.

I don’t shop much – in terms of spoiling myself to be honest. The blogging definitely helps with discovering products and trying things out, but most of my purchases are on Amazon for the home or eating out – because quality time is my love language and time with my girlfriends is a gift itself to myself!

One of the ways I get out of my rut – the bland style, same old, same old, is by subscription boxes. I rarely replace things if I already have them (a great habit of course) but sometimes I look at it and I’m like, why on Earth am I keeping this around? With subscription boxes if you find your pleasure – beauty products to discover, curated clothing, jewelry, it can help you add that touch of style when you don’t have time, desire, or the budget to do it on your own.

But of course this looks much better styled like this haha!

The cactus ring cone was a birthday gift from my dear good friend Ricki. She always gives me the most beautiful, function things – and actually she’s the one who helped me with that motto years ago when I moved into my house!

I’ve been going around my house asking myself  – does this not only serve a purpose, does it give me joy (yes Marie Kondo would be so proud!)? Even my closet is getting a makeover this month – starting with the hangers. The color alone needs to bring me joy so it’s out with black and in with white!
