If I could embed a GIF of myself doing a cartwheel in this blog post, I would. The vision of what I call “beefing up” the door and window casing really changed the look of the garden room.

It has taken a long time to get a quote, order, install, then the craziest part was getting a painter over here. They would either ignore me, not want to give a quote, or just no show the day of, I am not kidding!!! So Benjamin and I painted more than we wanted over the month, I’ll spare the list.
The before:

Hired a Painting Company so it would actually get completed!
As a soloprenuer myself, I like to support small businesses. However, speaking from experience of trades all across the board, we have decided that we will be giving our business to larger companies. Because it puts us on an actual schedule, I feel taken seriously I get a quote before they walk out the door and someone shows up. But not only that, if there is any flaw or I need it repaired, the company will show up to repair it.
If you are in the Phoenix valley, I hired CertaPro Painters Gilbert. I say the Gilbert location even though I’m in Central Phoenix because they are franchises and have different painters, and I hired the Gilbert one and they took great care of me. You can email Gregg gfurseth@certapro.com to have him come out and give a quote immediately. I just had the best experience with them that I am happy to share and support their business. The owner Jason was kind of enough to send his team out.
We also got the ceiling repainted (sprayed) because if you know, if you have any repairs on a ceiling you’re pretty much doomed. Don’t wipe with water on ceilings. Don’t do it! Or patch it, you’re going to have to repaint the entire ceiling. The unfortunate thing is our dining room is connected to the living room so that’s one big ceiling. GAH.
Also, we fixed another area in our garden room from an earlier paint job that went badly, a result of a bad sub contractor by our first contractor and after 8 years we finally got it fixed.

I will now be limiting my candle burning
I have decided to no longer burn candles unless I have to like for holidays and very minimally. The amount of soot and dirt it puts in the air goes on walls and ceilings, curtains and I want to minimize that. This is apparent especially when I’m trying to touch up paint.
So I’ve turned to wax melts with a plug-in timer. I know hello 1990s but I’ve been able to heat up my candles on an electric mug warmer I use in the winter and I pour it into wax melt molds (leftover containers from previous ones I’ve purchased.) I wasn’t sold on a candle lamp warmer. The space it takes up and it’s front and center wasn’t my thing, so these little wax warmers work well and they are out of sight!

I thought I’d try something a little new. I get emails about some sales and instead of focusing on a big sale (which sometimes I just have to because it’s too good) if there are any that stand out, I will list them below at the end of a blog post.
