Spring came early here which means summer is quickly following. This outdoor misting fan by New Air, AF-520B arrived for me to review over the weekend and I couldn’t wait to set it up!
I’m preparing the backyard for a baby sprinkle in a few weeks which will may be a little toasty. I don’t know about you but I’m pretty much doing all I can around the house and backyard to prepare for the summer heat. I want to be as comfortable as possible.
While most of us retreat, go on vacation or stay indoors while the rest of the country is enjoying their normal summer (I had a wonderful childhood of spending summers growing up in Northern California – lake, picnics, swimming…), I refuse to hibernate!
I put it together myself, super easy. I’m one of those – I need to do it to tell you that you can do it bloggers! It wasn’t much and it is lightweight.
Two things – just plug it in (might need an extension cord) and connect a hose.
Newair AF-520 Misting Fan key features
- Covers 500 square feet
- Quiet
- Adjustable height
- Oscillating head (it turns) can also stop if you want
- 3 levels for speed and cooling control
- 16 lbs
- Comes with two replacement mister nozzles
It also comes in a pretty bronze (you can find that on Amazon) also available on Home Depot website only (shipping is free).
500 square feet of coverage is really good, I love misters, I can’t believe how much it will cool down a space.
I’m relieved we can extend our time on the patio with our BBQ dinners and have friends over – we won’t melt. The outdoor fan can also be used without the misters if you choose not to turn on the water. Cheers to a cooler summer!
A quick 1 minute video demo in my backyard –
Hope you stay cool this summer!

I have a stupid question. If you sit in those chairs when the fan is going, does your hair and clothes get damp?
Thanks for the review.

Remember when your teacher said no question is stupid? ;)
Your clothes do not get damp – you know when you sit at a restaurant under misters? You can control a few things – the speed of the fan which carries the mist, and the intensity of the mist by the hose. Of course factor in the heat of the day so it if evaporates quick enough…
It cooks up to 500 square feet so you don’t have to place the fan so close up. Let me know if you get one!

Thanks so much for the info. The fan is in my wish list on Amazon. We need this fan in our hot NC summers. I let you know if I get :)

Just ordered the bronze! Can’t wait and hoping this will make Bakersfield summer’s on the patio more enjoyable.

Oh my gosh, I love the way the bronze looks, I am SO excited for you. Bakersfield does get quite warm in the summer! Let me know how you like it. I kinda want to stick my face against it ;)
