On our 10th year anniversary Benjamin and I went to check out “Chihuly in the Desert” at Desert Botanical Garden. We enjoyed a wonderful morning and a delicious lunch at DBG’s Gertrude’s Restaurant.

[cap_text full=”no” size=”40″]I[/cap_text] have been familiar with Dale Chihuly and his glass blown art for years since my family and I went to Seattle on a family trip, where his art studio is based. My mother has not stopped talking about Chihuly once she visited his studio and if you mention his name to her, she gasps and says with such passion, “I love Chihuly!” It’s pretty adorable. I also have a friend whose parents have a Chihuly chandelier in their dining room in Long Beach, WA!
So all that to say, I’m really excited to take my parents who are coming to town for Christmas to see Chihuly in the Desert at Desert Botanical Garden which showcases Dale Chihuly’s stunning, large-scale installations nestled among the garden’s world-class collection of desert plants. You can see 11 installations on the garden’s trails.
We will also take my in-laws when they visit for a month and a half in the new year. You can see it at Desert Botanical Garden now through June 19, 2022 when you buy a general admission ticket you make a reservation time for entry. It is included with a Desert Botanical Garden membership.

How cool are these “Neodymium Reeds” by Chihuly installed between cacti? So unique!
As we walked around, another visitor complimented me on my dress and I replied, “I was trying to match the Chihuly!” and he laughed and said, “Oh look! Another exhibit!” We started laughing.

I asked Benjamin if we could have a Chihuly installation in our garden *wink*
Also remember to stop by the indoor gallery in Dorrance Hall, for more never-before-seen installations. One of the volunteers was raving about it to us and told us we could not miss it, so don’t miss it! There are also Chihuly glass edition works and souvenirs at the Garden Shop so you can celebrate your time at the exhibition!

Now I’m going to let you go and check out the rest of the Chihuly artwork – also consider going at night too! Get your tickets here and visit “Chihuly in the Desert”. Maybe I’ll run into you there!
Diana Elizabeth says that you can also see Chihuly at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West, so if you are visiting Phoenix you probably have it already in your plans to visit Taliesin West (amazing too!).
