Summer finally comes to a close slowly around the country. No lie, you know it’s been a very bad summer for me personally. This was a summer I was looking so forward to so when my dad suddenly passed early this summer before the planned vacations, it changed everything. So my summer plans went from planned vacations to traveling back and forth from Arizona to California, organizing and managing all the things that happen with the loss, managing a new household, and the obvious, grief.
I had planned to head to Washington just a week before my dad’s passing to spend with friends and work on some content with Williams-Sonoma, which is still coming soon. There was no expectation for me to complete this and WS has been so understanding and told me not to worry about it, but you know me – first born daughter, I complete commitments and I also needed this trip.
A Hydrangea Dream

These wood handle pruners are $25, and elegant and would be a great hostess gift with a pot of flowers from Trader Joe’s or a Terra Cotta Olla pot!

Some of you are lucky enough to have hydrangeas in your world, and if I could, this I would plant hedges of them everywhere! But in Zone 9b, I have roses which is fine. I was thankful to have my longtime close friends Brittany and Rachel help me – Rach and I flew up to visit Brittany and her parents in the Olympia Tenino area.

The structure in the back is Brittany’s parents barn! Yes this property was incredible, I should have taken more photos of the house itself but you’ll have to trust me, it’s a dream and on over 20 acres I think it was 25?
It has a view of Mt. Rainier that will take your breath away! So stay tuned for that. Meanwhile I’m back in the desert and trying to clean up everything that died around here in this 100 degree heat. It’s nice to be home though.

U-Pick Dahlia Farm
Brittany drove us to a U-Pick Dahlia farm this one by Lynch Creek Farms. I just went to their site and saw they have wreaths for sale and Christmas goodies coming soon! Another idea for those far away on your gift list!

I also did a quick mini shoot on Brittany’s 5-acre property in Olympia with her animals. I’ll share that soon.
Meanwhile, I hope you are doing well, excited for the new season. And if you’re in the same place as myself, just learning how to navigate a new chapter, a new way to live I’m sending you a big hug.
