Molding in the living room

Crown molding went up and company came in town right after and then we went to Disneyland and I got back and here are some photos. PHEW! Between all this, I decided to get new peach pillow covers from Caitlin Wilson Design, and swap out the Mario Buatta inspired bows over the mantel from a dark blue to a brighter blue silk I bought a yard from Etsy.

My favorite thing about the dentil molding is that it brings out the color of our walls. I used to think Alabaster by Sherwin-Williams was just too white and flat for us, and now the crown molding makes the walls look creamer. The ceiling is also Alabaster.

If I were to choose a white paint again though, I would go creamier.

Our south facing garden room is Origami White and I like it. The rest of our entire house is Alabaster because it doesn’t get much light and faces North so I thought Alabaster would brighten it up. It does, but I’d still go creamier warm tone less bright white — just incase you are picking a white color for your walls.

I also swapped the pillows from my office couch (though the glass doors) with the couch pillows because I felt like the room was too blue and too flat. The same monochromatic tones doesn’t work for my personality or how it makes me feel. I need more color! So consider this a start of adding more color to the living room. I think I need to add more green and yellow. I want it to have the same cozy colorful vibe as the garden room since it is the first room you walk into and trust me I did some camera tricks and it doesn’t look as bright when you walk in. I do love this room lit at night though. I might need to take pictures of it at night for you. My friend Sommer says she loves our home most at night, and I do too!

I just wanted to show off the living room molding right now.

Oh, we also did new baseboards. If you want details on what we picked visit this post. And to see the living room before when it was all blue, click here
