White after Labor Day

Last week I caught up over shopping with my longtime girlfriend Kelley – we used to work in corporate together.

She’s one of those girlfriends I know I’ll laugh so hard my face hurts after we say goodbye.  When I think of her, I start to smile then giggle.  I was a marketing girl and she was in sales and we sat in the same cubicle area and all we would do was laugh, really loud, all the time.  I can’t even explain it, but she was my kindred spirit with humor – sarcasm, lightheartedness, never taking much seriously.  Once, we got shushed by someone in accounting and we ducked down so no one could see us as we stared at each other while laughing with bodies shaking.

Apparently we were terrible together and a distraction that we got split up – she had to move (for no reason) to the other side of the office!  It’s like we were the trouble maker duo, sheesh.   She now lives in Tucson (clearly no distance can keep us apart for long) so whenever she’s up for work meetings we catch up – this time we checked out the Phoenix premium outlets – right by Wild Horse Pass – the Saks Off Fifth by the way, is my new favorite store.

I break the ancient no wearing white after Labor Day rule.  We’re not 80 years old – just do away with the summer fabrics like eyelet, linen, the obvious summer wear.  But the rest, ah, I say you can still get away with it, just pay attention to the style.
