One of my dearest and longtime friends Lie Shia got married at Hatley Castle in Canada, to a Canadian! It seems crazy to think that the wedding at Hatley Castle that was planned long ago finally came and went, and we are so glad we were able to attend her Hatley castle wedding in Victoria, Canada. The location of the movies X-Men and DeadPool 2.
The bride is a special friend of mine, we met through AAJA (Asian American Journalism Association) when we both were in college, she read an article on me in ur newsletter that mentioned my internships I had in LA, Extra, Celebrity Justice, and KNBC. She was attending UW and wanted an internship at Extra so I introduced her to my contact and she ended up getting an internship my first year I lived in LA after college.
I had found myself between jobs because that’s how television works and she told me to print out my resume and she walked me around the offices of my old internship stomping grounds and reintroduced me to everyone to help me find a job (before I landed my reporting job at E!). Lie Shia is a true friend, a true, caring, selfless, supportive friend with a heart of gold. That showed me her true character and we’ve stayed in touch since – even when she had to move back to Seattle and I moved away from LA to Phoenix.
For friends like this, you are happy to travel to witness such a special day. And I mean, it’s in a castle, way to have the wedding of the year, Liesh. ;)
Dress: Missguided (wearing size 4, note it will take 1 month to receive your order, ships from the UK) / Heels: Steve Madden / Earrings: Rachel Zoe Box of Style / Clutch: Louis Vuitton / Crystal cuff: J.Crew
Benjamin also enjoyed pretending to be James Bond.
He loves Daniel Craig and says he’s always wished for a blonde James Bond.
I’ll always hold a special place for my favorite James Bond, Pierce ;) But I do love this wanna-be James Bond.
Now about this dress.
I was looking for the color red and something formal length. I didn’t want it casual, it’s a castle wedding after all! I thought about this salsa looking dress but didn’t think I’d get to wear it again so I kept looking. I actually went across the street to Nordstrom Rack to see what I could find because we were getting down to the wire. I found the black version of this dress (I’m in size 4, guess there’s no vanity sizing) and I liked the fit but I just wanted a bold color.
I did a search online while in the dressing room – does anyone else do that? I look for the item cheaper haha and I found it on the Missguided website in the color red AND they had it 50% off so it was even better, I ordered this dress for $35 ladies!!! Be aware it ships from UK and it takes a long time, like a month. It arrived the day before I had to leave to Victoria!
I mean can you even? I got so many compliments on the dress, I felt so great in it!
I also felt so great to be in this croquet garden.
Every corner we turned was dreamy, but the garden was just picturesque I couldn’t stop wandering around admiring it and daydreaming. I want hedges which take like forever to grow. And I also want wide open spaces and to live on top of a hill. Well… maybe I better keep dreaming ;)
This is the back of the castle. I was freezing and I forgot the front of the castle and when I saw it I was so bummed I didn’t get a photo to show you in front of it but then I realized it’s fine, I have taken photos at other castles like Ireland so it’s not going to be the last! And we’ll probably visit Victoria again.
Benjamin loved exploring the castle, I knew he’d be fascinated with them and now I’m trying to convince him to go with me to Scotland to see more castles ;)
Everything was just lovely, one of the most gorgeous weddings I have ever attended. She had a live band playing on the balcony, a room full of florals, and a Photo Booth with instant print outs and props to keep us entertained all night. The evening went by so quickly which is what happens when they say you are having fun!
