I wish somebody would have told me babe
Some day, these will be the good old days…Someday soon, your whole life’s gonna change
You’ll miss the magic of these good old days
That song Good Old Days by Macklemore makes me a little sad (and then happy) every time I hear it because I think about so many good times, college life of course (the best!!) and all my 20s, early especially just going out with my girlfriends, get togethers during the week because we had all the energy, late night chats, ups and downs, oh all of it!
But then I realize, it’s not over.
We’re still living in the good old days.
It’s what we make of it – every new chapter brings a new celebration, a new milestone. If you can run, jump, walk, or just breathe, it’s a good day. If you can remember how good life is, appreciate others, love your daily life whether it’s working your dream job or raising kiddos, how good is that!?
Sure sometimes I miss those different stages of the good old days, and there are so many. And then I think, wow, how lucky am I to not think the good old days are over. I can miss those old ones, but still appreciate the stage I’m in and know that I am now living days that in the future I will consider, the good old days.
So appreciate those good old days, but remember, you may very well be living in another chapter of your good old days. After all, life is good.
Listen to the song here.

When I read that book to my daughter I sometimes catch myself choking up, I think it’s always been in reading that particular one too.
