House Plan Updates
Solana Beach, San Diego
I’m certainly wishing I was back at the beaches of San Diego, and with the humidity lately in Phoenix with monsoon season it sure feels like I’m somewhere tropical! These photos have nothing to do with what I want to talk about, haha! Since being back I had some friendly meet ups with girlfriends and two shoots for Phoenix Magazine. One was outdoors for three hours, it was intense! I also realized that I cannot have more than two commitments in one day, I am not that kind of a busy-bee. It would be even better if I just had one, is that strange? Maybe it’s just the heat of the summer so – mood.
Anyway, house expansion plans are pretty much done and being finalized! Yay! We now have a large family room with a full bath and an area for a Murphy bed. I originally wanted just a powder room but then it made sense that if guests were coming, they should have a shower. This bathroom is going to be so pretty I’m going to be a little jelly it’s not my daily bathroom.
We expanded for a few reasons –
- So Benjamin could have his office be his office and not a guest/office.
- For guests to feel more comfortable when they stay
- More entertaining space – we have one living room so when we socialize it’s just the kitchen or the living room.
- We host small group once a week – however that is changing for a few months, we’re on a hiatus.
I also need a brighter space to shoot for the blog. I mean it’s not all for the blog, but it will of course help having another space and the room faces south so there’s plenty of light.
Since August is already creeping up (WHAT?!) I guess means we better get started ASAP on this if I want it done by the end of the year. Goals, just for my girl’s pajama party I host it would be wonderful, but I will just be patient.
Oh, I got some bamboo shades in for the living room and wanted to put it up myself. Then I kept hitting metal above the window frame and it was terrible. I had drill bits and everything I bought from Ace Hardware but it wasn’t working. It pains me I couldn’t do it myself and I’ve waited almost a week to get it up. Unfinished home projects drive me mad.
And so, by the end of tomorrow if all goes well, I can show you the living room with new bamboo shades and my custom pleated curtains and new RH curtain rod. I am done updating the living room. I’ll leave this room alone for a bit because I will own have new spaces to decorate! Hahah!
Now that I have more of the space planning and am more aware of the space, I can plan for the dimensions of chairs, couches, bathroom vanity and such. My mind is boggling with ideas, wish me luck!
Also – on a random note, please watch “Anne with an E” on Netflix. I’ve never read or known the story of Anne of Green Gables (heard of it but that’s about it) and this little series has stolen my heart. It’s just charming, adorable and imaginative all at once. ♥
