Scenes around here

Before it starts to really warm up here in Phoenix I wanted to upload some images to the blog for my memories.

W
e dined al fresco the Friday night before Easter with close friends. I picked up those garden style plates at Tuesday Morning and the pink plates from the 99 Cents Only store. The napkins are MacKenzie-Childs. I think eating on pretty disposable plates like this is a great way to go opposed to the paper plates that look way too casual. It still makes it feel special!

We have our routine down with our friends, one couple brings their epic Cesar salad and another brings dessert. We ordered LGO and it was such a lovely night catching up, laughing and really soaking in our time together. Sometimes I sit and just look at every person and I think about how much I enjoy their presence. Their company, their friendship, this moment of gratitude. The older I get the more I see and feel it and really acknowledge it. I have many more mature thoughts these days, well, opposed to when I was very young.

Butterfly ranunculus are so beautiful. I picked them up at Trader Joe’s. I snipped off any spent flowers a few days later to freshen them up so they would last by Easter.

Here’s a neighborhood pup I think named Bootsie. She loves Benjamin because she knows he will give her a snack. She ran up to him while he was working in the font yard and she followed him to the side door to wait for him. She whined it was so cute I had to snap a photo. The funny thing was we went on a walk and she was outside and she didn’t recognize Benjamin, he was out of context! She must just recognize the house and location :)

My neighbor gave me some things that belonged to her late mother, and I took the blue flowers and added them to my very bare lemon wreath I had bought from Ballard Designs a few years ago and now it looks so much better. I also added a MacKenzie-Childs ribbon which makes everything look better in my opinion.

She also gave me this green oriental vase. I had to take a photo and send it to her. She had taken a photo of a table of things asking me what I’d want and I circled everything and the kids came over and showed me. It was a special moment. I really love our neighbors, we’ve lived here for 10 years and we have such great relationships with many of them!

Now that Easter has come and gone I am a bit more relaxed over how things bloom and do in the garden. I have lots less pressure now haha! As the heat increases I can feel myself getting a little lazier with summer and I like it :)

Diana Elizabeth was thinking maybe Estate Sales will be less busy with the heat. She also wonders what is left to buy she feels like she is just upgrading things (which is the point of her going to Estate Sales) but she has a few on her list.

Diana Elizabeth is an author, photographer, and obsessive thrift shopper. You can typically find her in the garden wrist deep in dirt, at a local estate sale or planning her next epic party. She continues to blog weekly.
