Our Living Room

I have blogged about nearly every room three times or more. I feel the need to always update you with how it looks now even though tomorrow it might look a wee bit different. But it drove me nuts that the last living room update I gave had the old ceiling fan up! Link to the new fan here.

After my cleaning lady came over and fluffed the pillows and it felt clean — because her clean is better than my clean, and her pillow chops look better than my pillow chops, I told myself to do it already and take the photos.

Everything but the orchid and vase in the above photo on the table are from estate sales. My shopping is good for the environment *wink* I reupholstered the tiger stools myself, see the post here.

This room faces north and don’t let the photos fool you, I put my camera on a tripod and had a slow shutter speed. It’s a very dark room to enter. It looks lovely with the lights on, but it doesn’t photograph well but it really is so nice at night. My friend Sommer says my house at night is her favorite time to be at my house and I love that.

It’s because of all the table lamps, I know it. 2700K temperature too.

It just feels right, this room is the first impression when you walk into our house because with our home, you walk straight into a room. I don’t love that, but I do work with what we’ve got and I still think it’s cute! It’s just what you have to do and I made our own “foyer” with the way I arranged the furniture.

The large embroidered pillows I got at a thrift store with the tags still on them, $5 each! I had to get new fills for them because the fills were terrible and stiff. The top of the mango bookcase has a collection of blue and white items now, many things found at a estate sales and from my friend Sommer’s late grandma. One of the plates on the wall is from my mom and dad’s house, and I bought these wood brackets from The Scottsdale Marketplace which were supposed to go elsewhere but ended up here.

If this photo doesn’t show I’m a maximalist I’m not sure what does haha! I read a Mario Buatta book, get inspiration and then I’m just filling every nook and cranny! But it feels good and I love what I own!

OK now I can rest knowing you have seen my living room updated now, haha! Until next time! I hope you are having a lovely summer enjoying great weather, or laying low inside (like I am most days) and purging and cleaning!
