Featuring NuMe Octowand (45% off use code THANKS45) / Sweater: VICI
Okay, okay lovelies it’s here! I’ve gotten several DMs and text messages from friends asking if I like the NuMe Octowand. I gave the review I could for the time I already spent with a few of the curls done, but I had to finish all 8! Doing that took a lot of time because the reality was I didn’t need to curl my hair every day (and also couldn’t) so thank you for your patience for me to get this post up so I could show you ALL the images of the curls each barrel gave me.
It’s important to me that when I review a product I spend some time actually getting to know it so I can give you a better review. I am dedicated to serving you! *wink*
I’m going to share with you the 8 looks and my favorite barrels right now then go into my review. I curl away from my face for every day but when I want the Old Hollywood look, I curl toward my face.
The NuMe Octowand Set comes with –
- 13mm barrel for spiral curls
- 19mm barrel for tight ringlets
- 25mm barrel for glam curls
- 32mm barrel for beach waves
- Pearl barrel for bouncy natural waves
- Reverse barrel for tight ringlets to beach waves
- 25mm Cone for soft curls to tighter ringlets
- 19mm Cone for ringlets to spirals
- Wand base
- Styling glove
- Travel case
It’s a great bargain for value, with 8 different looks, and the NuMe Octowand (45% off now use code THANKS45) is convenient because it takes up less space which I really like. Imagine how easy it is to pack your wand base and a few curling wands for a trip. On top of that, NuMe really heats up to some serious heat quickly, like within seconds and VERY hot, which makes the curls stay for days – yes, you do need to use the glove. I set my wand to 450 degrees.
This is my second NuMe wand I’ve owned, I’m very familiar with using a wand and the NuMe heat resistant glove which is absolutely necessary when you see how fast their wands heat up. You can watch the numbers rise quickly and from blue and blinks green once it’s at the desired temperature.
What I loved instantly about this is how the curls are up top (I rarely hold the barrel with the tip pointing down) because my hair is long and heavy it was nice to have curls higher up for volume. I do not have extensions in my hair, I just have a whole lot of it after I stopped thinning it out and let my layers get long.
The wand heads up quickly and for me, it took the same amount of time using this curling wand as using a basic curling iron. The 32mm is probably my ideal barrel for loose beach waves and I love the 25mm for every day, and the 19mm is fun, those three are my tops that I can see using regularly.
Here is the 32mm –
Always brush out those curls, or use your fingers to separate them, depending on the tightness of the curl. For some of the tighter curls I separated them with my fingers but I didn’t go too crazy because I didn’t want my hair to look too pouffy.
This would also be great if you have little girls and they need different looks (or like different looks for those dance recitals). Just be careful how long you leave their hair on it, it can get hot!
If you are lazy and would like to multitask while curling your hair, you can’t with a wand. One hand has to have the heat resistant glove and the other has to hold the wand pointing down. And when you curl it, make sure your hair strands aren’t twisted as you wrap your hair around the barrel. Practice makes perfect. I remembering when I first had a wand my curls didn’t look great and now I am a hair curling ninja!
I also like that the curl with a wand goes to the crown of your head, unlike a curling iron which tends to just curl the tips. You do need to point the tip down when curling, I’m not sure why but you get used to it.
Curling time to get ready is the same as a curling iron once you get the hang of it, I leave it on for maybe 15-30 seconds (I always remember that one girl who curled her bangs and they burned off lol). I have pretty resilient hair so if you have finer hair, probably 10 seconds might be just enough and it depends on how much hair you grab too.
Add this to your beauty drawer, so many fun looks I was even thinking the tighter curls can give me a boho vibe for different looks with outfits. For the tighter curls they are fun to wrap your hair on the sides and tie it, see my IG stories post –
