Equestrian Portraits

I am so excited to share this photo session with you.  When I was back home in Nor Cal, I spent a lot of time squeezing my yorkie Paris half to death, walking to the lake, sleeping, hanging out with my parents and seeing one of my oldest and best friends, Rachel.

Rachel has been riding since she was in diapers and apparently has photos to prove it (but she’ll never show you).  Her first experience of riding was on Star, the first horse her mom had at the age of 12.  Rachel rides both English and Western (those are the styles of riding) and one of her horses (she has two) Dolly, is a Western horse with Western Pleasure training.

I had never been to a horse stable before so armed with a Claritin, I excited immersed myself into Rachel’s love, riding.  As she went around preparing to ride Dolly, she explained everything she was doing.  I even had her write it down for me again so I could retell the story to you accurately.  Knowing me, I’d make up some pretty interesting names off the top of my head to explain what I photographed.

I loved the little farm and country details.  I love rustic, country, old, things I’m sure you already know.  This defines my style and I hope you have fun meeting all the barn critters, as I did.

I LOVE this post!! I also used to ride Western and show my horse when I was younger and I miss it terribly! These photos are absolutely stunning — the stable, Dolly, and the rider :) Love it!! xo
