“Yeah! Yeah! Mockingbird don’t everybody have you heard? Have you heard? He’s gonna buy me a mocking bird.”
Tell me you all know this Mocking bird song clip from Dumb and Dumber.
As Mr. Wonderful and I were walking around our backyard after the rain yesterday, I saw this little peeper’s peeper staring at me from the vines.
After Facebook told me it was a baby Mockingbird, I checked on it over the next few hours to see if his mama would find him. She was making sounds all over the backyard, perching high up on our grapefruit tree, then the neighbors roof and I kept saying to him, “Say something! Your mom’s looking for you!” And then I worried I’d have to take care of him. I can barely keep plants alive so imagine my fear of housing this guy. I even started to dump out my three fake eggs in a fake nest (home decor) even telling the husband I wanted to wire it to the tallest branch on the grapefruit tree and put him in it so his mom would find him and feed him.
Then I went outside and I couldn’t find him. I’m going to guess he flew back to his nest. Or his mom swooped down and he jumped on her back and then they went home. The end.
Diana Elizabeth said if it was a baby pigeon she would not have taken photos of it or worried about it as much. Bird prejudice? Yes indeed.
