Love Lime Tree

So my gift to Benny Boo Boo Boo for our first year was a lime tree.  We’re starting to become backyard orchardists in the valley, or at least attempting to be.  I had it planted the day of our anniversary as I also juggled waiting for the Samsung repairman to come, and Best Buy to do a chest freezer drop off.  I tell you, managing a house takes a lot of work.

After walking around the backyard for a good hour early in the morning I finally settled on a place.  I even text friends, and then I recalled what my good friend Caroline Van Slyke of Boho Farm and Home told me the last time she visited.  She thought I should one day plant a citrus tree in this specific area and I decided that’s where it should go.  I even put a paper heart on the tree so Mr. Wonderful could see I got him a love lime tree instead of a love fern.  There are already a few limes that will be ready for us to use soon which is perfect as I have come across a recipe from the latest issue of Better Homes and Garden for ginger lime sugar cookies!  And like all citrus trees, I already painted the trunks white so the little babies don’t get a sunburn.  Welcome to the new yard lime tree!

Diana Elizabeth told Mr. Wonderful that instead of a dozen roses for Valentine’s Day, she wants a dozen rose bushes from Whitfill Nursery.  He then asked if that meant he could get her flowers from the yard from then on.

Diana Elizabeth is an author, photographer, and obsessive antique shopper. You can typically find her in her garden wrist deep in dirt, at a local estate sale or planning her next epic party.
