Sometimes it’s a miracle an outfit I post is still in stock, any part of it. Mainly because I don’t take a picture immediately upon buying an outfit (if I were a true style blogger I suppose I would) or I am usually wearing something that I bought years ago. #truelife

A few great things – I’m heading home to Nor Cal this week to see my parents (missing my dog, his absence is so hard to deal with). I will be there for my parents anniversary! I would usually be home for more than a week but husbands can’t seem to function well without their wives (Benjamin’s words) haha so I try to make the trips shorter.

Not sure if I mentioned we have goals to expand our home, but we’re saving up to pay cash. Not glamorous but it’s the way we run life in our household. Some days it just seems forever away and I think, perhaps a few small upgrades would be nice.

Trust me when I say we’re content with our compact living, but sometimes it’d be nice to have a wee bit of extra space – we love our location and neighborhood so moving wouldn’t be a consideration and have you seen my garden and the trees we’ve planted? I think those things alone mean we must see them grow until they are 30 feet tall.

It’d be nice to host bigger parties, have more guests long-term, that sort of thing. Meanwhile I have a short wish-list that might break up the waiting process – like adding wallpaper to our laundry room (removable of course) and adding a skylight to our kitchen. I’d also like to turn a linen closet to custom cabinetry, something like this, but we’ll see. I suddenly wish our entire home was painted white like all the new homes but I was told by a painter that our beige walls are great and makes our home cosy – after he described our home as Cape Cod in which I wanted to hug him. It’s just habits of a girl who loves to decorate – always wanting to change things when the mood strikes.

Anyway, being at home in California is a great time to get away from distractions – working, truthfully. I also wanted to restructure business and had all these plans but I’m not sure I’ll actually get to it to be honest. Sometimes, I think we feel like we HAVE TO be busy, showing that off, like it’s a pride badge to justify our existence, or always be working on the next thing – it’s my Type A personality. On the other hand, there are simple joys only being in the role where we are called to serve – at home, being a wife, being a good friend, being an auntie, just giving more of yourself to others.

So sometimes, it’s a good idea to get away and be those things. Work will always be there and it will come. I truly believe God is in control of our successes and the world can definitely wait a bit while you do the other things God has called you to do or be.
