Jealousy can be the main source of most relational conflict, and a struggle for many of us at different times. I want to share tips and pieces of a sermon about dealing with jealousy so we can protect our hearts!
What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. – James 1:16-17
Have a candid, open, unfiltered conversation with God about how you feel.
Speak truth. Ex: You look great! (because that is true she does). Instead of: I’m so happy for you that you fit in size 0 pants! (Because you might not be happy but you can admit she looks great.)
Perhaps you know this person or they are a friend, can you collaborate on a project or support them in some way? This will turn you into their cheerleader.
When it comes to how hard others are working in the same industry, I think about how goals might differ. They might have to work really hard because they need to put kids through school, or pay off debt. I should be cheering for them to make a living to provide!
