It’s a Whirlwind
Life has been a whirlwind lately, but in a very good way.
It was three days in a row of shooting – Thursday engagement session at the Arizona State Fair, Friday session at the Arizona Biltmore and Saturday was a backyard wedding that I have been looking forward to for a very long time. All I can say is that I am incredibly blessed to have the clients that I do. As cheese ball as it may sound, I absolutely fall in love with my couples.
And over those past few days, Benjamin and I have been talking wedding plans – his suit has been tailored and my dress is at the seamstress. I know some of you are thinking, woah, so fast? I have to admit that this was sort of planned a bit before the official announcement…only due to me wondering how to announce the private ceremony thing without making any of my friends think that their presence isn’t important but rather just a preference for us to keep it intimate. The reaction has been amazing and all of my friends and family have said they weren’t surprised when they heard the engagement news. I think they knew, just like I did, that Benjamin was just right. Plus let’s get real, December is mad chaos so the last thing I want to do is stress anyone out. We can all party hardy in February.
Not that I need to say this, but I’m just going to put it out there. I’m not pregnant and both of us are natural born US citizens. I know, did I really just blog that? I say this because that was the first thing my younger brother asked when I told him about the quickie wedding planning. Yes, I was slightly insulted and if I could have pinched him through the phone, I would have. If you have read my blog for a while you know that I’m a very committed Christian and Benjamin and I have been following God’s word and remained pure in our relationship. That’s not why we’re getting married, but honestly, when you’re older and dated enough DB’s, you just know. Plus, I just want to start life with him. Being engaged is not time to get to know each other longer, or going to level 2, it’s time to plan a wedding to get married. So we figured if we just cut out any excessive planning, we could quickly jump to happily ever after. I just want to go to bed and wake up every day with my best friend and who I love more than anyone else in this world. Plus, if you could even peek into my schedule and see when I would have time to get married with wedding seasons, it just made sense for us. This quick planning process has really been blessed by God and been incredibly seamless, praise the Lord.
Last Friday we headed to get our marriage license which was quite interesting. First, we tried to video document it with my Flip cam which then fell to the ground and broke off into pieces. Then we got inside and when we turned in our filled out form and the lady behind the desk asked for our IDs, I forgot mine. I had left it in my lens bag from the e-session I did the night prior. So, back to the house. Then I picked up video documentation via iPhone and now I understand when Benjamin doesn’t want me to video because in the middle he said, “Diana isn’t wearing any underwear.” *gasp* So then I couldn’t post it. So next time I am going to reply with “He’s not wearing any pants,” and proceed to post and tag him on Facebook. Two can play this game.
A lot of work coming up, but it’ll be great. I can’t squish in one more meeting with another person before I get married because it really is just that crazy around here. A tropical vacay with my girlfriends is coming up very soon, can’t wait. Then, after I am nice and golden tan (going to wear bandeau tops) I get to marry my best friend, my buddy for life, the one I am going to love, serve and honor for the rest of my life. Lucky, lucky me.
Custom T-shirt from The Wedding Chicks I wore when we picked up our marriage license / A gift from my dear friend Kim, Mr. and Mrs. notepads and yes, what a fairytale I am living / Adorable flowers sent from my future sister and brother-in-law.
Diana Elizabeth is marrying a Ken doll. He has blonde hair and blue eyes and he’s really handsome. She realized this yesterday when she looked at him and realized he really is that cute. This is perfect because growing up, she never had a Ken doll. Now she gets to have one for life.

Best part of this blog post: “…but honestly, when you’re older and dated enough DB’s, you just know.” Ha ha ha! You are so right though–when you know, you know. I knew I was going to marry Ryan before he even asked me out! True story!
