This new year I’ve been focused on corporate headshots, something I’ve done but hadn’t had much time to concentrate on in the past. I enjoy it tremendously for many reasons – it’s pleasant to meet new people and by golly they are so easy.
No matter what type of photography I focus on, I’m finding that I love the transition flowing through one to another. From shooting everything under the sun that moved, to focusing on what made me passionate, I’ve learned as an artist I should being flexible when there’s a need.
My preferred headshot lens is the Sigma 85mm/f1.4. It allows me to have enough distance my subject that makes them comfortable and I love the compressed background. I usually shoot at f3.2 with my subject and in a spot far enough from a background to have a good enough shallow depth of field. Anyway, that’s what I’ve been busy doing lately, hence the lack of posts on any social media. When PHOENIX magazine’s Top Docs issue comes out, I’m really looking forward to seeing the headshots I’ve been taking. This one above was in Phoenix Home & Garden, their sister magazine.
Oh and Happy Chinese New Year! Even if you don’t celebrate it, I’m sending you good wishes for wealth and good fortune!
