Once upon a time, a decade ago, this gal was Fiesta Bowl Princess 2001-2002, my junior year of college at The University of Arizona. I was the only gal on the Queen and Court from Tucson so nearly every weekend I drove up to volunteer, do my Fiesta Bowl spokesperson duties and quickly made friends with these girls, Marisa who is now a committee member on the Fiesta Bowl and Nicole, one of the owners of Uptown Bridal & Boutique, both I still talk to this day.
I had fun bringing my family along with me for the appearances and events and I know they really enjoyed themselves. I’ll never forget walking through the tunnel onto the field and thinking, “I’ll never ever forget this feeling,” and it has stuck with me ever since.
I love my life now, but I don’t mind admitting that a huge highlight was college where my experiences and memories were endless. If you are in college in the state of Arizona, check out the Fiesta Bowl, which provides a hefty scholarship, complete wardrobe and jewelry for the girls who are selected based upon academics and community service. You won’t have to walk across the stage in a bikini either. However, be aware, many of the former Fiesta Bowl girls do end up going into pageants, which is pretty fun too! *wink*
Some of my favorite memories…
Diana Elizabeth says she was rooting for Oregon 10 years ago (and they won) and she’s rooting for them again. Go Pac 12 teams!
