Gone Antiquing and Thrifting

Been busy taking photos and helping my friend Farrah with her real estate social media while also working on my own work – this is her bathroom. She has a great eye for antiques so we decided to go antiquing together.

H
ello from the garden room couch with a heat pad on my neck (horrible neck pains from poor posture maybe even too much binge watching Harry Potter?) and The Holiday is currently playing on the TV. I should be in bed, it’s past midnight but this is a time I really enjoy – blogging. Even if they say reading blogs is dead (I refuse to believe it), I would still blog even if I had one reader who accidentally stumbled upon this post a year later – it happens haha.

I wish there were more blogs out there to read. I’d rather be reading blogs than be on social media, but no one seems to be writing as much anymore. Is it just me?

I just like to slow down and blog, I dunno, a public diary? Thoughts? When blogging got more popular (monetized) there was so much pressure to put out content that provides value, creating pretty photos, but sometimes, the reason why I liked to read blogs, was when blogs were just public logs. ;) But hey, making money doing this too is fun as well.

I have some campaign work coming up, it’s a strange shift to realize that I get paid for social media post over blog now, don’t love it but I’m waiting for my brain to catch up and realize Instagram is not going anywhere and to put more time in it, only the reality is that app is so frustrating if I can be honest! There is this expectation to be on the platform for a specific amount of time and interact and sometimes I just want to post and go on with life and then I want to have a life opposed to more likes – it’s a battle over here with life and work and well, life wins. Some times I’m in the mood and other times I’m not, maybe it’s this heat ;)

I went thrifting and antiquing two days in a row which means I brought more stuff into our home. Oops. But, I think they were beautiful pieces and I think I will now need to clean out the other things that don’t fit my home style anymore sooooo guess I’ll be purging a bit tomorrow!

Check out my thrifting haul, this was at White Dove Thrift which is the Hospice of the Valley stores. They are close to me and have great treasures for around garage sale prices. Some tags however are ridiculous and I’m like woah, this for $15? Come on! So I skip over those items.

Here’s what I picked up, after I looked like a pirate that found a treasure chest haha!

The next day I went to the Antique Trove in Scottsdale with Farrah.

Here’s my antique trove shopping haul – a little mix of antiques and thrifting prices – and I tried my best to focus on good prices –

And now, sharing the pricing and breakdown of everything I bought from Antique Trove –

Anyway, have you seen The Holiday? I assume you probably have, I just love that movie. It’s a cute feel good movie and the homes are beautiful – I mean the LA home, the England cottage, I’d take either! I just love beautiful homes and style. That’s just where my mind is at.

Oh one more thing it was hilarious because we had a pile of our silver and crystal at the counter and an old man who worked there asked, “Are you ladies setting up a glass shop?” We started cracking up because Farrah only likes clear things and silver. Me on the other hand, have started to appreciate it now that I’ve seen her use it in her home, but I love porcelain and colors – especially blue and white.

I hope you have a lovely weekend! And if you haven’t watched The Holiday, watch it!
