Giveaway: Gluten + Paraben Free Makeup

There are times I miss my beauty and fashion writing days, but then every so often an opportunity like this comes along and I’m able to relive the fun times of testing out makeup, sorting through what I like and sharing with the world what I recommend.

I was thrilled when Red Apple Lipstick asked me to pick out a few things I wanted to try from their makeup line of gluten free, and paraben free safe products.

It seems as though lately we’re finding more health issues arising due to things in our food, to what we put on our body that can cause headaches, and many allergic reactions or illnesses.  Last year I had a bride who requested a makeup artist who uses gluten free makeup.  I think about how every day I wear something on my lips and by the end of every meal it’s gone – which means I consumed it.  Now that I can make myself be more aware of what goes in my body starting with what I put on my lips might be a good start.  I’m looking forward to when they branch out their line – word has it mascara is next on their list!

The products are very affordable with free shipping over $25 and a 100% money back guarantee.  You can also join the VIP club for free and get 20% off your order.  Visit to purchase.  Happy healthy makeup shopping!

  • Leave a comment below and answer this question – If you had to go on vacation and could only bring one makeup item, what would it be? (I modified it because let’s be real, if we were all on a desert island we’d ask for sunblock!)  My favorite answer gets the top seller lipstick in “Secrets

Lipsticks, lip glosses, lip pencils and eyeshadows!  Keep in mind this entire line is toxin free.  The eyeshadow pots will fit in typical eyeshadow palette carriers if you already have them, or you can pick one up on their online store.  The lip glosses have a mint flavor and tingly sensation.

I am a huge sucker for the details and packaging.  I loved the grips on the lipsticks and the top logo.

Now these two – the must-have’s for super soft and exfoliated lips – the Rallye Balm on the left, and the Exfoliate on the right:

The Rallye Balm is much fancier lip balm with SPF 8, and the Exfoliate stick you massage it on your lips then wipe it off with a damp cloth or water and then proceed to apply your lipstick.

I tossed a majority of my lip glosses to make room for these health conscious products – you can read their ingredient list here.

Honestly, for me it would be my eyebrow powder & pencil. I have such light eyebrows that they are practically non-existent if the brow powder is not applied. I look like i shaved my brows without it. Its a MUST have for me :)

That way I wouldnt scare any species on the island while stranded, they would see the eyebrows and know im a normal human… hehe!

I was just thinking the other day that when I see other people’s vacation pictures, they always look so cute — hair & makeup all done. And then I thought about my vacation photos and they are far from being cute, haha! When I’m on vacation, doing my hair & makeup is the last thing on my mind. But the one item that I must have with me is RoseBud Salve! I LOVE that stuff :)

Not wearing makeup is something I usually do. However, if I went on a vacation I would take mascara. You know, the one that doesn’t make your eyelashes all hard after a while, but the one that enhances your face and lights up your eyes (which is the one that leaves your eyelashes soft). Mascara can be a best friend at anytime and I think it is the best invention. When I go out that one item can change your whole face. Thanks for being so kind!

i am all about the mascara, i must have about twenty different ones and am always looking for one thats better than the last. It opens my eyes, makes my dark circles look less prominent and makes me feel beautiful

    I’m, yes I’d love a new lipstick!!

If I was limited to just one option, I think I’d have to pack along my face moisturizer because it has the ability to keep my skin looking bright and healthy. Though I love some good makeup, knowing my natural facial features are my true beauty is so easy to forget. If I could only have one thing, I’d want to keep my skin nice and bright to keep my natural, God given beauty alive.

He, maybe that seems corny, but it is heartfelt. So fun!

I like things simple. I just need my Burt’s Bees Chapstick and I’m good. Especially if I’m stranded!

My husband always comments on how often I reapply my lipstick, lipstain, glosses & balm, and that he won’t be surprised if our first child has a slight pink and glittery tint– and smells of a vanilla grapefruit.

My makeup choice on this deserted island would be a lipstain and balm (color and protection)… because I would give my husband a romantic smooch when he rescues me.

I also have been gluten & dairy free since college– making these dietary changes has improved my health, and I am excited to see how simple makeup changes can as well. Knowledge is power… Thanks, Diana!

    I would take sunscreen.

  • Carmen

My lips are always dry, so I will have to definitely bring a creamy lipstick. And if it has a little shimmer and comes with spf in it, even better!! The rest is extra… I will have a natural blush on my cheeks anyways from all the sun, so lipstick will be the finished touch that I’ll need. ;)

I will have to check this cosmetic line out, thanks for sharing!

  • Erin

Thanks for sharing about these products! I’m very intrigued by the minty lip gloss. :)

If I were on vacation, I think I’d actually have to bring some mascara. My eye lashes are practically blonde, so without it, I look like I don’t have any! And since they’re my only features you wouldn’t be able to see well without make-up, like Carrie said above, I feel “complete” when I use it. :)

  • Jessica

If I could only bring one makeup item it would have to be a shimmery lip gloss… because a little shimmer goes with everything and it is easy to apply on the go (or on the beach).

  • Carrie

Wow, I never knew there was gluten free makeup products. I gave up gluten, dairy, and corn over one year ago and never thought about my makeup. Thank you so much for writing about this.

The one thing I would bring is my 8 hour lipstick…..I feel complete when I have it on :)
