Frequently Asked Questions
I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark IV, and I use Canon’s L-series lenses – along with a Sigma 85mm f/1.4 I love. You can see my professional and travel camera equipment and recommendations here and if you're looking to buy a mirrorless camera, check out this post. My husband takes most of my photos unless I hire a talented local photographer to take my pictures and I edit them. I'll give credit if they want it, otherwise they just shoot and I edit and they prefer no credit since I edit to my style.
Work smarter not harder! My blog is focused on efficient living – which means ways to get things done quicker, efficiently. From sharing easy recipes, cleaning tips, organizing, thought process, to tech, they are tips and products that allow us to get the job done efficiently – in the least amount of time/energy – because time is valuable! I also believe efficiency can bleed into investing in stylish wardrobe pieces without giving into consumerism. Quality products mean less need and time to devote to shopping. I am also a big advocate about living within your means and living a debt-free lifestyle.
Start a blog because you have something you want to share, knowledge, inspiration, your life or you just need a creative outlet. If your motives is to start a career quickly and make a living, you may be incredibly frustrated and burn out quickly. Post regularly, and interact with fellow bloggers on social media and their blogs. It took me a while to figure out my niche, but I kept blogging daily because I enjoyed it and began to see what type of posts made me excited to write about. I really worked hard for a few years before the brands took notice. As I maintained an authentic voice, the opportunities to work with brands came about. Stick to what you’re passionate about writing about, take good photos and have fun!
I’m 5′ 7.5″ and full Chinese, my dad was born in San Francisco (roots from Hong Kong) and my mom is from Taiwan (family roots from Shanghai). I was born in northern California. I speak child (maybe toddler) level Mandarin and Cantonese, but I am very slow and am better at listening than speaking. I took a 23 and Me test and you can see my YouTube video here.
Keep submitting yourself, and it’s OK if you hear “No.” Not every agency will be the right fit for you, so continue to meet with a few and see who you click with. See this post I wrote about how to break into the modeling/acting industry. If you live in the Phoenix area, I do model test shoots for gals who are looking to get signed. Feel free to email me!
Welcome to Phoenix! You’re going to absolutely love our food and coffee! Local favorites include La Grande Orange (if going after 4 pm, make sure to check out the pizzeria), or next door is Postino WineCafe -order a bruschetta board. After, head a few blocks over to Nordstrom’s only national clearance aka bargain basement Last Chance! I also love Salty Sow‘s happy hour. Best sushi – Sapporo! Coffee snob? Check out Lux, Luci’s, LGO, and Cartel – two last are also in the airport! See more suggestions here. If you’re interested in hiking, check out our popular Camelback Mountain – it’s intense but the city view is worth it!
For fitting reference, I'm almost 5'8" and 114 lbs. I typically wear a size 26 in pants and size 0 or XS in dresses. My tops are usually a size small.
