For Today

hristmas is next week. Oh boy, are you ready? Are you done shopping? I think I am, and if I am going to shop, it will be for our home or myself. Benjamin and I have been in a season if trying to do a lot in very little time and feeling like we are still catching up – but not in a stressful way, things are great, but just in a – tackle what is urgent immediately and the rest we’ll get to it, when we get to it. Meaning, house, work, house, work.

Before I was about open up my excel sheet and plan for 2020, I thought I would stop and blog. I know writing a little personal post would calm my brain down at the same time catch you up on what’s been going on around here.

Outside my window… landscape work is happening. Cement is waiting to cure and lighten (I’m still waiting for it to lighten…), and brick edging and planters are being put in now. The cinderblock wall is up, awaiting brick detailing and a coat of white paint. Light posts are complete at the end of the new path to our front door, and I think what will be next up is my new garden area!

I am thinking… about a mixture of work, the party I’m throwing tonight (a last minute party) with some friends I haven’t seen for a while for an ugly ornament exchange party. I’m making this Creamy Chicken Gnocchi Soup from Trader Joe’s recipe site. I made it the other day to test it out and I was like holy moly where has this been all my life?

I am thankful for… finding the right people to work on our home. I don’t like spending money. But I appreciate seeing the hard work that is happening with owners doing the work themselves with their workers, I really admire hard work and good craftsmanship. Benjamin and I feel very fortunate to find people who are talented at what they do, and are hard workers.

From the kitchen… I’m telling you, make this Creamy Chicken Gnocchi Soup from Trader Joe’s recipe site. It takes 10 minutes and everything is ready, you’re just mixing ready made stuff from Trader Joe’s. It’s so good I could cry. And I’m very excited I’ll be eating it tonight.

I am wearing… Why does this question always sound so dirty. LOL. Clothes. Right now ripped H&M jeans and a pink velvet hoodie. By the time you’re reading this, matching set of pajamas or a lounge suit.

I am creating… a new excel sheet for the new year to record my income streams. I’m such a financial numbers nerd, excel sheets are my jam and I love to create documents. But lately as I will soon explain later, I will be adjusting my train of thought and focusing on what truly matters in 2020.

I am going… to work on Saturday and it will be my last working day – as in shoot day of the year, I think. It’s the last campaign I have and I am so excited about it – Macy’s Home! I have Lizzy coming to do my hair and makeup and I will head to a third party DMV place to get my new drivers license photo haha!

I am reading… does the new David Austin Handbook of Roses for 2020 count? Lord give me self control when I go through that catalog because I will find a spot for any rose.

I am hoping… the last few things we need to complete landscape design can be done within budget. We have a budget in mind and when we hit it, we are going to stop until we sell the townhome. We want to pay cash for everything and if we can’t afford it, we wait. After all, it’s been eight years since we touched the front of our home!! We have worked so hard on the inside and the backyard and now we can finally enjoy the outside of our home – and our neighbors seem pretty excited too.

I am hearing… quiet around the house just a car unloading some appliances at a neighbors. Reminds me, that will also be next on our list after landscaping, a few inside things and we truly will be close to done. I mean, for a while anyway.

Around the house… set up for my party of 6 tonight, I decided to do this a few weeks ago as soon as I returned from France (which I still need to blog about) because I felt like I didn’t host enough or have enough friends over and I decorated and did all this work. In the new year once home projects are done, we do plan on hosting small group again and being party central. Our home is bigger to accommodate more people to love on, and I plan to focus on so many other opportunities and serve others. Also thinking how much I do not want to take down my Christmas decor anytime soon.

One of my favorite things… I bought a lot of makeup at Sephora and I wore it the other night, mainly primers and I wanted to share them with you. My makeup stayed on all night it was amazing!! Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, Urban Decay all night waterproof setting powder, Urban Decay all nighter long-lasting makeup setting spray and Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I mean my face didn’t come off and it looked so fresh all night! Also right now there are all the specials on kits and this is the time to stock up for yourself, and I suppose others on your list ;)

A few plans for the rest of the week… Work on Saturday (shoots) and home stuff on Sunday – we have to continue flattening out the old garden bed area which will then be an orchard.

A picture to share… this comfy pink ruffle dress by Odd Molly (c/o) gave me the soft girl vibes (that’s what the young kids are giving labels these days) – I was called one by my 10-year-old neighbor girl, so cute.

We took this photo in the garage! It was exactly how I envisioned being able to shoot in this space so I’m very excited about potentially renting it out and using it myself.
