Finding the Light
The above moment was almost perfect. We were about to leave for first look when I looked out the open doors and saw the light. I grabbed the leather ottoman and asked Lindsay to sit and put her shoes back on really quickly. I love everything about this shot – as a photographer that’s what we do, we find the light, and the right way to show how beautiful it can make you look.
Sometimes direct backlighting is fun too, like Donna and Brandon at their Verrado wedding.
It also doesn’t have to be directly behind my subject. I also love it when the light is a little off to the side, maybe a 45ish degree angle behind my subject. Like so.
And right here over Ian’s shoulder.
Do you ever let your subjects face the sun? I prefer backlighting but I do love when my subjects face the sun during golden hour, like so.
Life is so so beautiful, I’m so glad light allows us to experience it and see it. Aren’t you?

Diana Elizabeth lives in a place where there’s over 300 days of sunshine. At least that’s what Tucson was (where she went to college), she’s not quite sure about Phoenix but it’s probably equally similar.
