So I thought I’d try a different method of editing. Because it’s fall. Because I want my photos to feel like there’s a crisp in the air – I’m totally faking it. So you want to feel cozy because maybe where you are, you are bundled up! Let me know if you think I should keep it up with the season.
Inside this little tin bin I decided to put my outdoor books. I’m still working on finishing a book that I started years ago. I’m terrible at finishing books, especially self-help (this isn’t a self-help). Once I think I’m cured I’m done reading. The other one is a vintage bible I found and it was a gift in 1949. I love that, it even has the owner’s name in gold on top so it must have been so special. I even found an old bookmark in it that I left. So this is where I put my books so I can sit and read and I don’t worry about strange things or dust getting in my books.
Onto the garden, look at one of the things I’m growing!
I’m not an eggplant lover, but I’m a – I love what I grow so I’ll eat it kinda lover so I suppose it means I love eggplant now!
I also don’t like cucumber – in fact, once when I put slices over my eyelids I got red bumps so I guess I am allergic. Lookie here, this started from a seed!
I need a Girl Scout garden badge. It’s so well deserved. Miss Heather would be so proud of me.
Our American flag got really ratty at the ends and it looked so disrespectful so I replaced it with a new red white and blue flag. I actually bought this my freshman year in college, and kept it all these years! Go Wildcats! Bear Down! If you’re an ASU fan…we can still be friends, but let’s never talk about our schools, OK? I love this angle because you can see the red white and blue and also see it in the cushions I added in the hammock.
In hotter areas like Phoenix, we have to seed winter rye which basically means we replant our grass every summer because in the summer time, everything dies and the grass we have is Bermuda, which is basically a weed. We have cut weed lawns over the summer. If you don’t plant winter rye, your grass will be the color of hay for 8 months out of the year so it pretty much means, pony up the cash every fall.
Just starting to come up. Can you see where it grows heavily by the fence in the shade? Kinda cute.
The jasmine wall is doing great too.
Adding the pillow to the hammock makes it so much more comfortable and inviting to sit in, I’d highly recommend it.
This is where I planted the Queen Elizabeth rose. I bought a tree/gutter trellis and I have great expectations for it – it will be a climber and cover the entire top of this porch area by the storage.
Are you all starting to enjoy your fall weather? It’s hard to think that some of you are starting to get snow, how fun!

Diana Elizabeth says she knows she’s supposed to stay off the grass when it’s wet so it can grow but she feels like she’s a caged animal.
