This post is sponsored by Macy’s.
I was in Nashville last weekend to spend time with Benjamin’s family. I typically pack jumpsuits and dresses on trips because it makes one less item I have to mix and match. *wink* This also goes for my summer wardrobe mentality – my brain is on summer vacay mode and I want to stay cool but want to feel a bit more dressed up. I have found that using a rolling garment bag makes it so easy – keep clothes on hangers and add toiletries, done!
My friends at Macy’s dressed me for this Nashville trip – every outfit went perfectly with my Nashville surroundings. Right now Macy’s is having a one-day sale Friday and Saturday with free shipping for orders over $49 – so you need to check it out and stock up on new summer styles – even sandals. Macy’s always has great sales, there’s always a new one around the corner.
Here are a few beautiful spots around Nashville that are worth a visit and snapping a photo too, of course. At the end of this post I list a few spots to check out, mainly recommended by my brother-in-law who lives there!
Cheekwood Estate & Gardens
Cheekwood is a beautiful estate with gardens to walk through. There’s a small cafe, and many outdoor areas for children to explore and play. You can tour the estate and take a photo in the very popular terrace cover in vines.
When I know I’m around green, I like a color that pops so this yellow pleated maxi dress was perfect!
Another great shot is right behind the estate in the grassy area where you can picnic, relax and pretty much enjoy the grounds like it’s your own home! Stay as long as you want – you can bring your own food and just hang out. The locals usually get passes to access this location on the regular.
These rope sandals are perfect for summer and go well with dresses. I love that the pleated look is in – it provides so much dimension to pants, tops, and dresses.
That view just took me away.
Can we give a shoutout to Benjamin for being good behind the lens? And also patient too.
Estates on Richland Avenue
When we drove down West End Avenue I noticed a lot of gorgeous magnolia trees – they went as high as six stories and touched the ground! I was in awe and we took a few photos at a church on West End Avenue and we turned down a street to explore the neighborhoods and we found gem after gem – aka Southern home after Southern home.
Crochet cherry dress: Lucy Paris (wearing XS) / Sandals: Mango (similar) / Purse: love this one / Hat: Brooklyn Hat Co. Safari Hat from Popsugar Must Have box (similar) / Denim Jacket: J.Crew (similar)
We just pulled over and walked around admiring the curb appeal, mature trees and the vines. What a truly gorgeous little neighborhood! A crochet cherry dress is kinda cute for a summer trip in the south, right? It was lightweight and I am a fan of stone fruits – peach, plums, cherries, those fruits that have a stone seed or as we call it, a pit!
You can say stumbling upon this street was a gem, it was so lovely to drive down and my mouth hung open most of the time as I dreamed of repainting our house and admired the home ownership pride in the neighborhood.
Kokos Plant Based Ice Cream
Kokos Plant Based Ice Cream is located in a storage container, we stopped in here after Cheekwood to enjoy some vegan ice cream. I’m not on a vegan diet, but I do appreciate how fresh and good I feel after eating vegan. I don’t feel heavy after eating and I notice that. And who doesn’t love coconut milk? You have to check out this cute little spot.
Also thanks to the staff for keeping my purse safe after I left it on the seat – I totally left it!!
Gaylord Opryland Hotel
This popular hotel is all indoors – it’s reminded of a blend of a cruise ship and Las Vegas. It has shopping, dining, entertainment, arcade, water park, I am pretty sure if you asked if it was at the Gaylord Opry Hotel it exists!
Naturally I love the greenery and was asking what certain plants must be taking photos and also admiring a fiddle leaf fig that had to have been 100 years old and three stories tall! What?! I had no idea it was even capable of being that large. I felt like this blue and white stripe strapless jumpsuit was very southern and Parisian – it was so lightweight which I was thankful for because it was a bit humid in Nashville.
Here are a few more great summer dresses –
Things to do and see in Nashville
Here is your go-to list of things to do and see in Nashville, courtesy of my brother-in-law Lee Steffen (he’s the male version of me and is a graphic designer and photographyer, only he’s cooler and works with celebrities). Lee and his family lives there and gave me a list, it’s great to see we hit most of them on the list.
I also added in some celebrity owned stores. While I didn’t have time to check them out, I wanted to list them just in case. Also keep mind I didn’t put any country music locations, but I am sure any hotel would give a list that focuses on the music scene.
- Cheekwood Botanical Gardens is one of our favorite places in the city, and is an IG paradise.
- Opryland Hotel is fantastic. Indoor river, tons of waterfalls, beautiful plants, orchids, etc
- The (John Seigenthaler) Pedestrian Bridge will give you some amazing views of the city
- There’s a perfect replica of the Parthenon downtown
- Murals: Nashville is known for having some very IG worthy murals.
- Downtown Broadway at night is pretty cool to experience
