Those handed down tips you get from family or friends that stick with you, do you have a few? My mother-in-law was the first to introduce me to Bon Ami, a nontoxic cleanser in the beginning of my marriage. She had been doing some cleaning around our house before our backyard wedding reception, being helpful like she is, and she came back from the store with Bon Ami.
I had never heard of it and it was an alternative to what I had under the sink and I really liked that it was nontoxic.
It seems odd to remember that, but when a product leaves an impression on you, you remember! Kind of like people.
Since, I’ve been a huge fan of using it to clean everything – and the entertaining is happening, after Easter and now a bridal shower this week at the house!
Bon Ami is a nontoxic powder cleanser and has many uses, cleaning everything from dried-on food to scuff marks on your kitchen, cookware and bath surfaces. All you need to do is sprinkle the powder on, add some water and it makes a paste, leave it on for a little bit, or not long at all, and use a damp sponge or cloth to wipe the surface clean.
There is also no strong odor because it’s free of bleach and perfume, and safe to use around pets and kids.
I like to use Bon Ami on my pots and pans to clean off the oil and food – I’m not sure what it is – that’s baked on there. It is non-scratching and cleans and polishes which makes me feel better as I’m rubbing away cleaning. You can use it for cleaning countertops, keeping grout white, removing stains from bathtubs, toilets and sinks, deodorizing the microwave, the list goes on. It’s nice to give the kitchen sink a gentle scrub down with all the water spots – I find using a paper towel to wipe it down makes it look like it just got installed!
Don’t you love those tips or recipes that are passed down from generations? I am so glad my mother-in-law introduced me to Bon Ami, it’s always under our sink and my go-to cleanser. And for those with little ones, pets or kiddos, you can rest easy using a non-toxic solution.
