For the love of Champaign + Sideboards

This past year we’ve done a lot of upgrading – my office and everything in it, our en suite bathroom, the guest bedroom headboard, dresser, Benjamin’s desk, flat screen, and now the dining room.

The things we’ve replaced have been from trends 10 years ago which is good, and can be beneficial in upgrading the same time all at once, but can also be a huge pain tackling this all again in another decade. So now the trick has been, let us find classic pieces.

We bought a sideboard/buffet. It’s a vintage Drexel champaign-style buffet, and I’m in love.

It’s refinished by Mission Avenue Studio, check out their site, they have some lovely vintage pieces. Their shipping directly from their site was $500 and on OKL it was $200, so you can guess where I decided to purchase it. Nonetheless, if you find some nice pieces on their main site, mosey on over to OKL and see if it’s listed there as well.

If you live in the Phoenix area, my girlfriend Kate told me about Twigs and Twine which has a store in central Phoenix. I had emailed asking if they would get something similar and the sweet owner immediately replied and said it was unlikely they’d find a pieces that large in the future. I love honest businesses and ones that quickly reply!

I’ve also noticed the trend of the champaign buffets are coming back – see Pottery Barn –

They really are lovely aren’t they? Restoration Hardware had an endless amount of buffets as well but I wasn’t sure about too much wood or matchy-matchy. I’m sure we went in the right direction. I’m waiting on the chairs and the buffet to come in before I decide on a chandelier.

I LOVE the first sideboard!!! Now that I’m older and have replaced many pieces of furniture for my home, I now believe that investing in classic pieces like the ones you chose are key to keeping things looking fresh instead of outdated. But then again, I’m the type that gets bored of old things 5 years down the road. Lol ;)

Thanks Carmen, I’m SO excited to get it! Oh my goodness, I’m the same way, I get bored after a while and I zone and look at something to switch up or replace. It makes Benjamin go crazy! :) But as One Kings Lane says, Design is Never Done! :)
