A while ago at church, where my husband’s cousin is the lead pastor, the topic was about chairs. He referenced the movie Phenomenon where John Travolta’s character bought a warehouse and stocked it full of these chairs this woman he loved made – and apparently some of them were totally weird, made by the woman played by actress Kyra Sedgwick. These chairs were made of vines and branches and she just loved making these chairs, and so John would buy them causing her to make more – but she didn’t know that he was the one buying them all. He knew she had a passion for it and it made her happy building them, so by purchasing it, it allowed her to keep doing what she loved, because he loved her.
So then it was suggested for every one to talk to those they love what their perfect day would be like, from beginning to end. Then, find out what their chairs were. While somewhat similar to finding out what someone’s love language is, you get to find a lot about someone when you find out what their absolute perfect day would be like. Who they would see, and what they would spend it doing. And their chairs, well, if you find out what they love and you can help to continue to ignite that and encourage it, well happy life, right?
Mr. Wonderful hit the nail on the head when he said my chairs was creating things. Decorating our home, making unique projects, creating an image/photography, graphic design, sewing, painting, create, create, create. I am thankful that my husband sits back and lets me create whatever I want.
I want to encourage those of you who are single to find the person who buys your chairs so you can make more, not someone who wants you to quit what you love doing or give you your interests. And if you are with someone, ask that person what their perfect day would look like and what their chairs are, if you don’t have it figured out already. Then, make it your goal to help them continue to make their chairs and have that perfect day – every day of their life.
Diana Elizabeth says speaking of chairs, she’s picking one up from Craigslist (btw the iPad ap is amazing!) today! She’s going for this patio look here. Yes, she might be partial because it has a Yorkie in the photo.
