As you are reading this, I am in Nor Cal for the next three weeks. I was supposed to be here mid-July to end of August however I decided to buy a house and close on it within two weeks so that changed things. Then I also decided that no fixture, flooring or paint was good enough for me so I had to change 80% of it.
This attitude of mine means I feel like I am dating the men at Home Depot, ACE Hardware and testing things out with Ballard Designs, Pottery Barn while trying to juggle my love affair with the barista at Starbucks. Oh, I even asked my UPS guy if my new home is part of his route. I was devastated to find out that is not, even though it’s only blocks north. He asked when I was moving. I seriously made a sad face because I liked making him laugh every time he dropped off a package, I’d crack a joke with, “What’d I buy last week?”
My new rule: No buying stuff until I sell some of my stuff. I actually have created an album on Facebook called “Buy my stuff” that I will soon debut to my friends so they can tell me with a simple comment if they want it. I’ll set two pick up dates and vola, donzo. Then I’ll have some cashola to buy my remaining items on my Anthro/Pottery Barn/Ballard Designs/Home Depot wish list. I’m sure as I move in and see what works and what doesn’t, I’ll be adding to it.
While I’m away, bathrooms are being gutted! The fun part has been seeing the awesome funny pink wallpaper or yellow velvet damask that is under the tile that’s being removed. I love it. My home was built in 1952, it’s all brick and it’s historic. It’s lovely, I love it. I’ll be putting in white subway tile with dark grout (thanks to Ricki‘s recommendation) with it up the walls too. The coolest thing about having a contractor redo your entire bathroom with a plumber and an electrician is that you can place anything anywhere. So I’m installing the two skinny lights (so total of 4 in the bathroom), on each side of the vanity mirrors. I’m also doing honeycomb tiles on the floor, a nice classic throwback to the old days when things were clean and cute. I’m so excited to move in when I return!
So I’ve been taking iPhone pics here and there, and so far, here are a few things that I’ll share. Please note when I say “Old” that means it’s not staying. Don’t want you to think I have bad taste – not that you really would think that, right? *wink*

The best part of being home in Nor Cal is getting out of the 110+ heat in Phoenix. The worst part is being away from my Mr. Wonderful who I am madly in love with. So, he’ll come up and visit me in a few days and it’ll be great. I’ll wrap up my Cali time in Huntington Beach for a weekend to see a dear girlfriend of mine before heading back to the desert before another girlfriend comes out for a spa Labor Day weekend, wahoo! And then, ladies and gents (the three men reading), Arizona wedding season begins.
